genetic propertys[edit]

i once ate perches one of them had something around the first 5 vertebrae that made me read after weberian apparatus, do perch have this? Strangely other examples didnt seem to feature one thus connection with the swim bladder (although the fish was cleaned the relation was clear. Anyhow getting to the point, if, what i think, this is not common in perch but was caused by pollution, that would mean (a) gen(es) is latent in plenty kinds of fish that would never have a weberian apparatus. It may be that some archaic species had rudimentary hollow vertebrae. i am really surprised to find this article (i didnt know of the apparatus before), as i always been wondering what was with that perch.24.132.170.97 (talk) 09:28, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, sorry. Perch and other percomorphs are acanthopterygiians and not ostariophysans. By definition, they don't have a WA. Shrumster (talk) 12:30, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
