Exciting

Isn't the word "exciting" in the 2nd sentence a bit subjective? (see: Wikipedia:Neutral point of view) --Benimation (talk) 23:24, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Recent edit

Removal of most of article without discussion

The historical information of previous and the current editions of the event have been removed without discussion, barring a one-liner entry on this page here above with the non-descriptive heading of "recent edit", with a link to the diff. I do believe that such a removal merited more discussion, especially a little bit more visibility. The edit summary cites "Excessive intricate detail & wp:promo". I am not certain as to exactly is "intricate", and as for "promo", this is standard fare for a large event of this nature. Having said that, perhaps the information can be rendered into an abbreviated table format, such as here, here and here. @Rui Gabriel Correia: Most of this is promotional 'cruft that's excluded under WP:PROMO; that's why I removed it. Sample:

@K.e.coffman:, Hi. Thanks for your input. You are right, there is a lot of cruft, I agree with you on that level. At the same time, I feel that the year-by-year evolution/ history of the event is important, naturally within the project parameters. The sentence you pointed out above certainly needs to be removed, for two reasons; firstly, there is no need in a section on 2017 to mention past speakers, as each name should be mentioned (if justified/ noteworthy) within the year of appearance, secondly because that whole sentence lists only so-called celebs. I will weed out such bits once this discussion has run its course and the consensus it to retain the separate annual sections. I wrote most of the section on 2016 and — personally guilty of adding one celeb — I included Figo, within context. I certainly am not fond of trivia or gossip/ coverage of celebs. I also added 'activists' to balance out the tech moguls, and added Portuguese PM and president to highlight the seriousnes with with the event is treated in Portugal.
