Cady at caltech[edit]

I was at Caltech when Dr. Cady was. I believe his title was Research Associate. This meant that Caltech supplied space for his research but he had to come up with his own funding. I was not doing well as a physics graduate student. When I expressed interest in working one summer for Cady, I was strongly discouraged by Dr. Robert Bacher. Cady's field was dead. The rise of laser technology changed all of that.

Dr. Cady was, in my mind, an example of a gentlemanly scholar from the Old School. Although he was not as sharp as in the past, it was still a pleasure to have known him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PEBill (talkcontribs) 16:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
