Extent of usage of the name[edit]

Vladislav is not a Russian name. Although used in Russia, it is predominantly found in Western Slavonic cultures (i.e. Czech, Slovak, Polish) and far less often among Southern (i.e. Bulgarian, Serbian) and Eastern (i.e Russian) Slavs.

At best it can be categorized as a Slavic name.

Vladislav was/is a rather common name in most Slavic lands, for example, Stefan Vladislav I of Serbia. Sotnik (talk) 05:08, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shortened versions[edit]

Both Vlad and Slava are equally traditionally widely accepted as legitimate shortened versions of Vladislav in Russia. However Walthery edited this line adding that Slava in Russia is a "less accepted and, technically, incorrect" version. Could you please explain your claim. "Less accepted" by whom? "Technically, incorrect" how?

I've been a Russian Vladislav for the last 23 years and nobody ever called me Slava. Slava is short for Viacheslav. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.77.204.250 (talk) 15:02, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
