Talk:Victa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am the digital coordinator for Briggs & Stratton in Australia and as the owners of Victa it falls within my responsibility. I noticed that Victa in itself does not have a wikipedia page which may be influencing Google's perceptions regarding the brand due to their algorithm. I have attempted to create a small info page about Victa so it becomes clearer to Google's crawlers what Victa actually is. There is no intent to advertise the products themselves on Wikipedia, the purpose of creating a Victa page was to influence Google's knowledge graph to give more information regarding the company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victa1952 (talkcontribs) 01:26, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Victa1952: Because you are an employee of the (owner of the) subject, you have an inherent conflict of interest with the subject. That doesn't mean it's impossible for you to write a neutral article, but it does mean that all your edits will be gone over carefully.
Also, remember that for us to use copyrighted material, the owner (the company) would have to place it under a free license—effectively, they'd have to give it a way. (It's no accident that the guideline page is titled WP:Donating copyrighted materials.) Make sure that's within your level of authority to do—and even if the company does donate the material, that doesn't mean it will remain in the article unchanged. Other editors can (and likely will) edit the text to comply with Wikipedia guidelines such as WP:Neutral point of view. —C.Fred (talk) 01:33, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
