Merge/move proposal[edit]

Seems reasonable to rename Urban Indian reserve to Urban reserve since only the latter term is seen in the titles of the references for the former's article. Urban reserve only contains a short list of example reserves and these could be merged. Dl2000 (talk) 04:24, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Urban Indian reserve appears to refer only to an official type found in Saskatchewan; it's not clear if the Capilano, Mission and Tsuu Tina reserves are of this kind, if it's an official type. List of urban Indian Reserves in Canada seems maybe viable, depending how "urban" is defined, but the general term "urban reserve" has no apparent aboriginal reference and conceivably could refer to a plot of land allocated for urban expansion in any context. "urban" is a relative term in Indian Reserves contexts, though; some are urban in character though rural in location, and there are many whose lifestyle is "urban" and joined to the adjacent non-native community/ies but not within their boundaries, e.g. the three main reserves (i.e. of three different bands) verging on teh town of Lillooet....is there really a formal classification of reserves which, becauase of their "urban" location, have extra powers over traditional reserves? Maybe so, but then that has to be explicit and as noted I'm not sure that all are attached to, or within, either major cities or smaller "urban" area (e.g. Lillooet or, say, Hope or Chilliwack....and many of those in Chilliwack are rural in character...so the term, in either title, is confusing/confused to me....Nusqueam and Tsuu T'ina, also are very rural in landscape, for exampleSkookum1 (talk) 04:08, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
