Track listing[edit]

I have removed the beginnning of a list of every UMP track. There are several reasons why to not have a listing of every track. The list is extremely difficult to maintain. Tracks come and go way too quickly when there are around 100 on the list. The list would be way too long. It would overwhelm the rest of the article. We have discussed simular situations to this at WikiProject Motorsport here, and consensus appears to disagree with this type of listing. Royalbroil 13:56, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think listings of KEY tracks in each state UMP has sanctioned tracks would be a much better idea, rather than a complete list of tracks in a few states. By the way, the Springfield Mile, and DuQuoin could be removed from the list, since they now only hold 1 UMP race per year, and those are for Sportsman.....not taking anything away from the sportsman, but they're not exactly the best-of-the-best. Another point for removing the list of tracks from the article: It's hard to agree on what to list. Everyone has their point of view as to what's notable, so either it all should be here and somehow get updated, or it all should go. Royalbroil 04:43, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By KEY tracks, I mean tracks that are ONLY on a National tour schedule, such as the UMP Summer Nationals, and the Northern All Stars Late Model Series (NALMS), plus the rest of the touring series (there aren't that many, AND, not every track gets a tour date). That should cut the list dramatically. If it wasn't for my slow 56k connection, I would volunteer to do a complete list, listing every track. If I had a faster connection I could retrieve all of the track's info, such as length, website, checking said website, etc, without taking several years to do so. Overall remarks[edit]

This article is seriously lacking. It almost makes me embarrased to be associated with a UMP Late model. For all of the info that is available on the web about UMP, this article should surpass my articles on Racing in Illinois, the Herald and Review 100, and my yet-to-be published article on Modifieds. Be careful about not using controversial information from their website and to make sure that this article doesn't get promotional sounding if you use their website for information. I can point out bigger tragedies than this article. At least there is one and it has some basic information. Most of the top 50 drag racers of all-time don't even have articles. There is a lot to do. I prefer to think about what I've done instead of what isn't done. Royalbroil 04:43, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I thank-you for all you have done, but those that started it could have added more info, or at least that is the point I was trying to make. JLG 2701 17:56, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
