Une vie (disambiguation)Une vie – See WP:DISAMBIGUATION and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC: Une vie (Maupassant short story) 1883 would be the only contender for a primary topic in an encyclopedia but we have few editors working on French literature; and Une vie (film) based on the story is at the English distribution title. So film article is the main contender for primary topic here. 1971 album by Dalida is not in the running against the film article. --Relisted. • Comment anyone thinking of expending great bytes might consider creating the Maupassant story? In ictu oculi (talk) 04:42, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The main topic on which films are based now exists Une vie (novel) In ictu oculi (talk) 06:45, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support since the unsourced album article is obviously not a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this French phrase. However, please note that this is a malformed multimove request, as the destination name is currently occupied by an article. There seems to be an implicit request here to move the current Une vie to Une vie (Dalida album), which I also support. I have just placed a notice about this discussion at Talk:Une vie. —BarrelProof (talk) 18:42, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I though Une vie (Dalida album) was already there? It wasn't malformed when the request was made. Support of course. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:38, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It was moved over the baseline, I've moved it back to avoid further time-wasting. With the novel having a stub the only question is whether (Dalida ) is needed due to the Maria Callas compilation album. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:45, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't shortcircuit the RM by just moving to your preferred outcome. It may well go your way, but until then, RMs are supposed to start from the previous status quo. Dohn joe (talk) 23:16, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You moved it to baseline. In fact this entire RM is timewasting caused by your initial objection to the French album not being at the dab line in the first place, and now you've changed your mind and are supporting the initial moves. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:54, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:GregKaye but WP:MALPLACED means that the dab should be at the baseline without (disambiguation), and the book and album at dabbed titles. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:38, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In ictu oculi There is no WP:MISPLACED but I understand that there is an essay that presents a similarly, I think, nonsensical and WP: ASSERT type content. How can you say that a List of topics called named Une vie is misplaced by describing the list as Une vie and, as such, not disambiguating the list from any of the articles named Une vie? How can we say an article with an explanatory title such as Une vie (disambiguation) is misplaced? GregKaye 18:35, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I can't remember the exact name, but dabs are at the baseline. That's how it is. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:52, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In ictu oculi Despite involvement, I was forgetting the reference to that Wikiproject essay myself. Whether claiming article titles are "misplaced" or "malplaced" I think that the result is an inappropriate application of wp:assert. If you are interested then please reference discussion at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation#A disambiguation of disambiguation pages in which views seem split. A recent comment provided the observation, "that sometimes we do things in a certain way and get so much used to that, that we tend to believe it is the best way, even the only correct way of doing it." There is clearly not a problem in disambiguation pages being disambiguated and we do this habitually when there is a primary topic. Similarly I do not see a problem in providing some form of suitable disambiguation to a "List of topics called named Une vie". GregKaye 06:21, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support BarrelProof's suggestion. Among the novel, the film, and the album, I do not see a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC here. Dohn joe (talk) 23:30, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But you did on 12 of July when you moved Une vie to (disambiguation) 12 July 2015‎ Dohn joe (talk | contribs)‎ m . . (316 bytes) (0)‎ . . (Dohn joe moved page Une vie to Une vie (disambiguation): prep to redirect base name to only en.wp topic) (undo | thank).... how many times does it have to be said; we disambiguate by TOPIC not TITLE.
