Cibo - New York, NY[edit]

We just ate at Cibo after thinking it was still one of Tyler's restaurants and had a few good jokes with the staff about him not actually working there.

Apparently he got started there but hasn't been executive chef for almost 10 years. I'm going to update the infobox to reflect this but not exactly sure what the standard notation would be. Food TV Bio

Kevin Tyler Florence[edit]

Can anyone confirm the change from 'Tyler Florence' to 'Kevin Tyler Florence'? I can't find a source that confirms this. Blckdmnd99 02:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was on the Food Network's Chefography of him, which I'd think would be official. I remember, b/c when they said it, I thought, "Wow, so Tyler's his middle name. And he doesn't look like a Kevin." But I don't know how to cite that. Strangely, I can't find it mentioned in his bio on the Food Network site, or even on his official website. Weird, huh? --Ebyabe 13:29, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remember them mentioning it in the Chefography, but when you do a Google search for "Kevin Tyler Florence" (with quotations), the only site that comes up is wiki. I don't know if the television special would be considered a reliable source, but perhaps someone can have a look at the press kit on his official site? There is nothing in the article about him being a chef in a restaurant, but I'm guessing from the above post that he was a restaurant chef. The article makes him sound like the other FoodTV hosts who are just personallities , not experienced chefs.173.88.154.149 (talk) 13:25, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the name, is tv.com a reliable source? If we can use it, even though tv.com calls "Kevin Tyler Florence" his "birth name" it seems improbable that he would have legally changed his name simply to switch his first and middle names. More likely he simply adopted his middle name as a nickname. I think the way to indicate that would something like this:
'''Kevin Tyler Florence''' (known popularly as '''Keven Florence''')
Regarding the restaurant career, I know he was developing a new restaurant in San Francisco's Tendernob neighborhood but as a matter of original research (literally, in this case) I was in the area a few months ago and saw that construction had stopped. I found someone who reluctantly admitted that they thought the project was on hold. Possibly one could find a food writer who confirms this, because the San Francisco press is full of restaurant gossip. - Wikidemon (talk) 15:06, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, Tyler has been busy! That one seems to be off the table but he's simultaneously developing three restaurants in Northern California, and has opened up a small chain of high-end kitchen stores. It would be helpful to have a chronology of his business enterprises and kitchen experience. I'll add what I've found to the article, but if anyone really wants to know they might want to get in touch with his press agent or PR agent, or else email him directly. Either they'll have a press kit with clippings, or else if they give you the names of the businesses you can just find them on google. I'm sure they would be happy to see the Wikipedia article expand. - Wikidemon (talk) 15:15, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TV[edit]

I've seen him on Globetrekker, the Mexico one, but I don't know the protocol to add that into his bio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.94.32.172 (talk) 22:44, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great Food Truck Race[edit]

Shouldn't "The Great Food Truck Race" on Food Network be mentioned somewhere on here? It's a very popular show that Tyler Florence is the host of.
