No students?[edit]

Current article states that "Gettan traveled to Edo where he decided to open up his own dojo in the Kojimachi district. While he was incredibly talented with the sword, there were no būshi enrolled at his school".

Would anyone care to elaborate? Did he have no students? Did he have students amongst classes of the society other then the bushi? How can you financially keep a dojo open if you have no students? How did he support himself?
