Comment[edit]

Maybe make a new page for the new anti rpg system developed by the US military.

  • They're referring to this. Is that real? I'm a little skeptical, due to the weird file format and everything, and I can't find confirmation online. -LtNOWIS 02:30, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scottish Cup[edit]

The Scottish Cup trophy is the oldest national trophy in the world and is a major competition in football considering its age. I have added it to this page as it clearly deserves mention. I think the FA cup should also be added as it is equally worthy if one is going to include the Football League Trophy.

MadeHow is a terrible source[edit]

I have determined through my research that the MadeHow article is entirely baseless. There is not a single picture of the so-called Kyp cup on the internet, and a quick google search reveals that the Henry Ford Museum website has no mention of the Kyp Cup. If you Google Kyp Cup, every single mention of the Kyp Cup gives no information outside the 1699 date, the maker Jesse Kyp, and the fact that it was rewarded for a horse racing competition. Even published articles in Country Living and the Independent do not contain more information about the Kyp Cup. Without any other evidence, I am forced to conclude that the statements in the MadeHow article are completely made up, especially because every article I found on the history of trophies contain almost identical content.

The history section of Wikipedia, however, seems to be a copy-paste of the Brittanica entry on trophies as an ancient Greek memorial. I should be rewritten to avoid plagiarism claims. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.170.47.235 (talk) 05:31, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-Cup Trophies[edit]

This article should be edited to include a section on non-cup trophies, such as championship belts (used as trophies in boxing, rodeos, etc). Oconnell usa (talk) 18:50, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why cups?[edit]

The history section doesn't explain why cups became the token of victory. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.25.109.196 (talk) 09:55, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

laurel wreath was the trophy or mark for distinction[edit]

Not all trophies where of precious metals and stone. Isn't that why they call the head sticking out of a wall a trophy?66.74.176.59 (talk) 10:31, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Needs Section On Participation Trophies[edit]

The right-wing propaganda machine is saturated with "I hate anyone younger than me" stories about how "Participation Trophies" have supposedly ruined america. But I can't find an article about the truth, lies, the meme, or examples of actual participation trophies. I think old people just called their participation trophies "merit badges". Granted, perhaps that's a separate main article. But I can't find one on wikipedia about it anywhere, and I'd expect there to be one here. Ace Frahm (talk) 08:17, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment, but if the machine is saturated, you should be able to find something from a reliable source. Try harder. Willondon (talk) 22:59, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
