I don't understand why the article switches from tangent to sin/cos in the calculation section of the page. The calculation starts with the equation: l = d/tan a +d/tan b. Simply getting a common denominator and solving for d results in the equation: d=(l x tan a x tan b)/(tan a +tan b), with no need for trig identities.[edit]
