2RZ-E vs 2RZ-FE[edit]

This page is linked from the Toyota HiAce page; specifically from 2RZ-E under the 4th Generation heading (Granvia XH-10 sub-heading). Whilst I cannot speak with authority on the Toyota Granvia, I note an independent page under that title does suggest a 2.7L inline 4 engine option, but does refer to a 2.4L engine. The 2RZ-FE on the page for this discussion is as a 2.4L inline 4 cylinder engine with DOHC & 4 valves per cylinder. I own a 1999 (4th generation) 2RZ-E powered HiAce. Someone please call the police! - someone has stolen a camshaft and half the valves! These are NOT the same engine - the 2RZ-E is a SOHC inline 4 with 2 valves per cylinder. The other vehicles listed under the 2RZ-FE heading should also be checked. 122.148.209.251 (talk) 15:11, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I added the 2RZ-E. Whew.  ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃  (talk) 18:24, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, That was quick! I made a few refinements to your description, including the significance of the -E suffix for the 2RZ engine. I am still researching the power and torque specification for the carbureted and EFI equipped variants, and hope to add them soon. I remain uncertain about the applicability of the -E suffix for a 1RZ engine. I also moved the Toyota HiAce reference from the 2RZ-FE heading to to the 2RZ-E (correct) heading, removing the previous reference to a HiAce wagon. (The HiAce comes as a short, long or high roof super-long wheelbase version of the generic white van, configurable for passenger or cargo carriage, with side windows or plain panels; there is no "wagon" variant).
I also moved the stock picture of the 2RZ-FE in 1998 Hilux (obviously a DOHC engine, with centrally located spark plug caps) into the correct section, but (oops) I seem to have unsettled the page formatting. I hope someone more skilled will tidy that up a little. The importance of clarifying the distinction between the 2RZ-E and 2RZ-FE engines becomes obvious when 2RZ-FE engine components are repeatedly picked and delivered to repair an out-of-comission HiAce (often belonging to an unable-to-work tradesman). They simply don't fit.
Without expanding on the reasons for wanting to do so, apparently from the same engine family, the cylinder head from a 2RZ-E might be expected to fit onto a 3RZ-FE (same bore, and longer stroke) block with few problems. The same might be expected of intake and exhaust manifolds, or ignition systems. Don't even think about trying - it takes "WOFTAM" to a whole new level. In fact, the more incompatible parts I see, the more I believe the RZ and RZ-FE engines have evolved into distinctly seperate engine families, and possibly should be treated as such.
I hope this opens the way to further discussion. 122.148.209.251 (talk) 20:58, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I modified the formatting of your response so as to make it more legible - the secret to making an indent is not a space, but rather a colon. I don't know all that much about the 2RZ engine aside from what I read on the Japanese wikipedia entry. You are correct in that "E" signifies fuel injection. What market was your HiAce originally sold in? As for the photo, I will change the layout of the page so that it just goes in a catch-all "2RZ" section. Hope to see you around more in the future.
Question: what was the original market for your HiAce? Best regards,  ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃  (talk) 00:46, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My HiAce is the Commuter (SLWB, High roof version) manufactures 31 Dec 1998, plated and equipped as a 1999 model. It was originally manufactured for the Australian market. Thanks for the formatting tip there, Mr.choppers - I still have a lot to learn. May I suggest the 1998 toyota HiLux engine bay shot in the 2RZ engine section be moved alongside the 2RZ-FE description, if possible? I'm posting from a different PC and IP today, so I'm going to try cutting & pasting the previous sig. tag.122.148.209.251 (talk) 12:02, 22 October 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.148.141.32 (talk) [reply]
Thanks for the info. I also suggest starting an account; that way you can post as yourself from whichever computer you're on. As for the placement of the photo, I consider it as a visual illustration of the entire 2RZ range (until a picture of a SOHC 2RZ appears, at least), and if we place it further down it will impose on the 3RZ. I don't think it causes any confusion where it is right now. Best regards, and if you do create an account make sure to tell me and I will be more than happy to possibly assist you with other tips and things.  ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃  (talk) 06:50, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can 1rz nozzles work well on 2rz engine ?[edit]

1rz nozzles can they work on 2rz 102.146.47.149 (talk) 23:57, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, this a general article on the engine as it came from the factory, not a how-to article for performance upgrades. Also, the talk page is for improvements to the main article rather than improvements to an individual's car. Forums are usually better a better place for answering that type of question.  Stepho  talk  00:08, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
