70's or 80's European (I think) song that sounded almost exactly the same[edit]

I think there was a dance song, most likely European, that had a very similar melody to the chorus of 'Toxic', including those dingling bass guitar notes at the end of each line. Anyone remembers what it was? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.152.32.17 (talk) 06:21, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pretensions[edit]

This song is not rocket science. You want to analyse music? Start with Beethoven. And perhaps look at Lennon/McCartney. Publishing a section here called 'music and structure' only reveals your age and paltry lack of real music chops.

Charts[edit]

I'm from Germany and Toxic has never been number one in Germany. It peaked at numer 4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.76.174.188 (talk) 16:44, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Covers[edit]

On the Yael Naim page (in wikipedia), it said she covered the song toxic in 2007

Reasons For Changes[edit]

The USA Charts should be listed in one table because they all have something in common namely, they all come from the same region ie. USA.

The International Charts also have a common element, namely they all come from regions outside the USA.

Listing the two tables as one does not make sense because there are many USA charts and only one chart from each of the other regions.

Deletion[edit]

I notice that this has just been deleted from the article:

"Toxic" has been voted the world's second favourite song in a global poll of 700,000 music fans (Source: BBC News).

Is that because it's untrue? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:45, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Charts[edit]

I always thought that this song made it to two in the netherlands (i live there) FANSTAR 20:10, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, only number four. See here for the full trajectory. ShadowHalo 00:18, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Toxic only made it to number two in New Zealand so i dont know why people keep changing it to number one! I should know i live in NZ!

Someone stupid removed the right chart position and changed them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.128.194.151 (talk) 11:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cathy Dennis version[edit]

A version of Toxic by the song's co-writer, 1990s pop star Cathy Dennis, has been circulated on the Internet. I can't seem to find any indication of a commercial release, but a homemade video can be found on Youtube here. We're not supposed to post Youtube links in articles, so I can't use that as a source. Can anyone provide a source to suggest the song has been commercially released by Dennis? The Youtube comments suggest it might be a demo. 68.146.41.232 17:17, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Josh Holloway[edit]

Is there some proof somewhere that Josh Holloway is actual the guy in the video? It doesn't look like him... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.14.131.232 (talk) 04:41, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wheres the source for the paragraph which says she had the crystals stuck on her and only allowed 3 peeople in the room?Mc8755 (talk) 11:13, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure, the only thing I can think of is that if you saw the MTV Making The Video of "Toxic" they stated this as a fact and showed them kicking everyone out of the room except for the select few. That may help someone find a credible source knowing that information, hope it helps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.186.68.73 (talk) 17:10, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sort of thing those programs ignore, like in Umbrella, which there is a source for there only being two people (one cried.. couldn't hit it). Also in this paragraph, the Piece of me article says its 500k, this article says 1.1m. The crystals stuff, I've always thought it was a net, body fishnet. --86.159.63.134 (talk) 16:43, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

^ Yes she is definitely wearing a body stocking or fishnet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.232.111.9 (talk) 01:08, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JAPANESE VERSION OF THE SINGLE[edit]

sampling a bollywood song[edit]

On 11:17, 23 January 2010 someone (84.196.180.134) removed the reference to a youtube video that claims the hook of the song is from a bollywood movie. why was that? and why without discussion? any objections to reinstate it (maybe with a better explanation). 79.180.32.43 (talk) 15:47, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Was perusing the recent changes and came across this little addition. As I'm not in the know about this subject, I've requested a citation, but you guys will probably know if it's true or not. Orphan Wiki 13:47, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This song[edit]

this pop-rock song. The song contains rock'n'roll elements listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt7Tvge9Iv0 —Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexZachem (talkcontribs) 23:33, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that a song was later covered by a rock band, doesnt make this single pop rock, anymore than Paul Anka's version of Wonderwall (song) makes that a swing-jazz song. Pop rock is pop music done in a rock format, usually a band with guitars, bass and drums and that is clearly not what Britney was doing here.--SabreBD (talk) 07:26, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"the charts work better when seperated" (sic). How? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:10, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

#1 On U.S. Billboard Hot 100?[edit]

In 'The Single's Collection' CD the cover page with all of the tracks and their composers and producers (I don't know the proper name for this) it says 'Toxic' was #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 4 weeks. So, what do you think...? #1 or #9?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by InTheZon (talkcontribs) 02:36, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was number one in Pop Songs for four weeks. A printing mistake. Xwomanizerx (talk) 02:47, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

144 BPM?[edit]

I tested that on Logic Pro 9 and it's actually 143 BPM. Not that it's that big of a deal. Just thought I'd say that it's 143 BPM on my music software. --Rainbowroad6w (talk) 18:41, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's listed as 144 on the source. Xwomanizerx (talk) 18:57, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, ok. It's 143 on Logic Pro 9, though. But ok. It's a small difference. --Rainbowroad6w (talk) 23:17, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Toxic (song)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Toxic (song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
