Order of sections[edit]

Since the manga came first, shouldn't that section come before the adapatations? Admittedly, it'll look silly until someone fills it in with a list of the takobon volumes. —Quasirandom 20:14, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So moved. —Quasirandom 22:56, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And list of tankobon volumes added. However, I'm not able to find the ISBNs anywhere in English googlespace. Is anyone up to retrieving them from someplace Japanese? (amazon?) —Quasirandom 20:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have a few of the ISBNs availible, but not all. Would it be worth adding the handful I have or should I hold off for a complete list? I believe the tankobon is no longer in print, which is why the numbers are hard to find. -MarchingTwinkie3 (talk) 03:14, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Put in what you have, I think -- that'll at least partially verify the information, as ISBNs can be used to track information down. —Quasirandom (talk) 15:20, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just added all the ones I could find. · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 17:00, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of episodes[edit]

So between this and that, we have most of what's needed for an anime episode list -- just English translations of the titles. Which so far I haven't found. Anyone else have any luck? —Quasirandom 22:56, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AH! Found one thanks to, of all obvious places to look, ANN. Time for fun with wikitables! — And the list is complete. However, I'm not at all confident in the accuracy of those English translations. Is anyone up for cleaning them up, or should I put in for a translation request? —Quasirandom 20:14, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Main Characters[edit]

Expanded Main Character section, my own summaries but list based on: [1]. Left out other characters intentionally to let other users expand since I haven't progressed far into the manga but enough to make an introductory summary. Also left out pictures of characters. —Sanzo84 20:50, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. I've tweaked the formatting and deleted Punch (because, well, the dog just isn't that important). Perhaps someone will come along soon and add the Japanese versions of names and voice actors, if I don't get to it first. —Quasirandom (talk) 20:26, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Punch appears in almost every episode, sometimes multiple times. I think the voice should at least be listed. · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:36, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just changed this to 'characters'. That it's the main ones can be assumed. Tyciol (talk) 00:39, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reception links[edit]

Found a glowing review in English of the DVD box set -- which also can be used to reference the record ratings for the original airing. —Quasirandom (talk) 20:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Was stalking the random guy and fall into that place. Need third party coverage? i have some... Ok i will make a cheap price for you... Let say it for free.

Touch, entry in Manga Dico, Page 560, Nicolas Penedo:

Publié au Japon dans l'hebdomadaire Weekly Shonen Sunday, Touch, écoulé à plusieurs millions d'exemplaires et devenu un classique du manga, est sans conteste le chef-oeuvre d'ADACHI Mitsuru.
Published in Japan in the weekly Weekly Shonen Sunday, Touch, which sold millions copies and became a manga classic, is without contest the Mitsuru ADACHI's masterpiece.
The mangaka here proposes an allegoric story: If Kazuya and Tatsuya are twins but opposed, it's because they represent each other a different way. The reader can identify more with Tatsuya, who is not much motivated by effort, while Kazuya the model adolescent incarnate.
Coo. Brushed up a little. I assume AnimeLand and Manga News do the usual coverage as well? —Quasirandom (talk) 15:55, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ha! —Quasirandom (talk) 19:52, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Audacious, ADACHI adds depths to his story, which could have stayed a simple romantic comedy, by killing one of his main characters. The other, Tatsuya, will from then seek to master his own destiny...
Art-wise, the artist reaches his highest level. While the first volumes still present some awkwardness, the drawing quickly attains perfectly uncluttered, magnified by superb layout, close to cinematographic story(telling).

Comment: harder especially i can't find a good translation for the word épure :( Guess must look back at Natsume's friends.

By the root, I'd assume "purity," but that's pureté, isn't it. Purification? or would that be épuration?
BTW, is découpage ever used for "cutting" as in cutting between scenes in a movie/drama? —Quasirandom (talk) 19:52, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For épure as combo of pure + nothing superfluous.
For "cutting" something like that but applied to the scenes & comic panels. How the scenario is divided into pages & panels. --KrebMarkt
Sounds like "layout". —Quasirandom (talk) 21:27, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
More oriented storyboard thought but i guess layout would do.
Speaking of which i finally found the right translation of the term "trame" it's the word Screentone. Took me a while to figure it all. I guess i will have to fix translation where the world trame was present. --KrebMarkt 22:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! Cool. That makes sense. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The psychological treatment is also masterly: pudic, the heroes don't verbalize their sentiments/emotions much, which are communicated essentially through gestures and facial expressions.

Done and fixed :p --KrebMarkt 16:06, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And mostly edited (will need to do another pass after the coffee has taken effect). —Quasirandom (talk) 14:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Novel(s)[edit]

I found a mention of a novelization, Touch: Another Last Scene, and notice we're not mentioning it (or any other novels). So just a note for following up some time. —Quasirandom (talk) 21:59, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Where did you find mention of it? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:49, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
... like I'm supposed to have a memory card that lasts for two months. Um, given what I was editing the day I wrote that, I think it was mentioned somewhere in either a Shogakukan profile of Adachi or promotional materials for Cross Game or Q&A. Probably no where citable, though, or I would have linked to it. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:19, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Katsuya?[edit]

Someone listed Katsuya Uesugi on the fictional chars portion of Uesugi. I added 'Kazuya' because that's who's listed here. Could someone confirm if there's a Katsuya, or did someone just put the wrong name? It looks like someone combined Kayzuya and Tatsuya into Katsuya. Also I think since they're from the same series they could just be listed alongside each other. Tyciol (talk) 00:39, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it should be Kazuya. · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:49, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So why do we have a redirect for Kazuya back to this article, but not Tatsuya? *scratches head* —Quasirandom (talk) 19:45, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Is there an article for Tatsuya...checks...yes, and it has an entry for Tatsuya. I've added a redirect for Tatsuya Uesugi (Kazuya and Minami already had them). · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:55, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
While we're on the subject, is Tatsuya ever a female name? I ask because a French reviewer of Undercurrent refers to the mangaka, Tetsuya Toyoda, as female, and I'm wondering if the reviewer knows something I don't. —Quasirandom (talk) 22:48, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fact checked the author biography in its French publisher website and it's a He. So it's a male. --KrebMarkt 05:20, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It would be extremely uncommon for "Tetsuya" to be a female name. It would be like naming a girl "William" in an English-speaking country. · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:27, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I thought. Will mark that reviewer's "she" with (sic) if we use that sentence. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:10, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Part of the blame may rest of the fact that Minami's character refers to Kazuya as "Kat-chan" in the fansub available. —Sydtron (talk) 17:45:17, 24 February 2010
Not really blame as that's what she calls him in Japanese (in both the manga and anime). I don't remember her ever calling him anything else (though it's possible she used his full name a couple or three times during the whole series). · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:28, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
