PROD tag[edit]

I just went ahead and removed the PROD tag from this page. The user account that tagged this page "Marslo2015" was only active for 24 hours and did nothing except PROD tag the articles for 10 different file managers, being:

Xfm MuCommander PathMinder Xfe Volkov Commander Total Commander Double Commander Xfile Path Finder Commander One

I would suggest this is a grubby competitor trying to squeeze a few more cents out of google play. I will also remove any remaining tags from the other pages -(22 December 2015‎ 124.186.117.18)

I object to removal[edit]

You can't be serious. IMHO The software is more deserving of a wikipedia article than most, albeit the article is somewhat lacking. Perhaps this is because it is swiss in origin; I notice de.wikipedia.org and fr.wikipedia.org appear to have a bit more info. I'm not a regular WP contributor, I don't know about notability guidelines and really don't have the time to read up on it (or even write this, really), however I would suggest Total Commander is not only notable, its seriously epic. Continuious development since 1993, translated into over 50 languages, 65 million hits on its homepage, a huge volume of plugins from by 3rd party developers. It's a serious piece of software that's taken very seriously by a lot of people. I am astounded that anyone would suggest removing this article, perhaps it has been misplaceded amoungst the vast sea of mediocre "also ran" software listed on WP, however this would be mistaken identity. Also worth noting that this page is linked from Comparison of FTP client software, USB On-The-Go and Comparison of file managers which lists TC as outperforming Windows Explorer by a fair margin. At the very top of the "Nice WWW Links" <http://www.irfanview.com/main_links_engl.htm> page on Irfan Skiljan's site (author of the ubiquitous Irfanview), under the heading "Great Software" is "Total Commander - one of the best file managers worldwide (IMHO)". I could go on but hopefully by now you get the point, which is basically that the only thing its missing is that it's free to use (nagware, just like WP). I can only imagine that the author must be independantly wealthy or we would all be quite used to seeing the name on glossy brochures, oversized software packaging and banner ads blinking on our cellphones by now.(and btw: yes there is an android version and a windows phone version). 124.186.117.18 (talk) 18:58, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is one of the most popular norton commander successors used in Windows. I do not see anything particularly wrong with the article: it is a notable software with large number of users, and its sources are based on the software's original webpage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lboloni (talkcontribs) 14:09, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"no assertion of notability (WP:N)"??
I smell idiot.

And please don't treat this rough judge as a sign of TC fanboyism, I just note that the person who wrote it is totally blind for facts. Total Commander is by far the most popular file manager that's not a part of any OS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.55.222.35 (talk) 12:57, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is stupid, there is no need to delete this article, it is a popular and notable software. The article just needs better references at the moment. Just leave a template message at the top. Karpouzi (talk) 13:30, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Missing info about the 64-bit builds[edit]

The 64-bit builds are using Lazarus/Free Pascal instead of Delphi. There are several mentions about it in the changelog [1] of the project, for example:

04.12.11 Added: Switched to new Lazarus build with fpc 2.5.1 - may cause various incompatibility problems, please test thoroughly! (64)

14.07.10 Added: Start work on conversion to Lazarus/Free Pascal in preparation for 64-bit version
