disambiguation page needed?

"Topical" can apply to areas besides pharmaceutical.[1] Brian Pearson 01:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree. At the moment we have an article named after an adjective, which is non-standard. This should be at topical medication or similar. At the moment that redirects here - it should be the other way around. 81.153.111.52 17:32, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
  • The user: 24.47.245.105 made the comment ( ..that I've reverted to the previous edition ). & Omited or forgot to sign it, ( On 04:15, 4 April 2008 ). I think is vandalism. Don't you?. I'm signing this'cause, it's my 1st time using this command ( Undoing one ) ! Maybe unnecessary, 2 write this!? (Delete this, if needed!) Ok! --PLA y Grande Covián (talk) 07:59, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Opposite

The opposite of "topical" appears to be systemic, and should be named in this article. Wakablogger2 (talk) 08:49, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Cicatrin powder

The antibiotic Cicatrin also appears to be a topical medication. It is most often used in powder form, and I note the article doesn't mention topical powder applications. Maybe that should be added. Expert assistance is sought here. DQweny (talk) 10:50, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

How is transdermal classified under topical?

I thought topical therapy is by definition local?

Transdermal delivery systems are used to produce systemic effects.

E.g.: - BNF 62, page 461: Evorel patch is used as HRT to treat menopausal symptoms. It produces systemic effects (as the active ingredient is disseminated throughout the body). It is not a topical therapy as it is not intended to be used for a topical effect (why would its action be needed on the application site?). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.29.56.84 (talk) 21:40, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

The "classes of topical medication" section should be in a logical order

* Perhaps they should be in order from least to most moisturizing...? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.165.197.87 (talk) 14:53, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

definition of topical

The definition presented at the beginning of the page does more to define/give examples to what a mucous membrane is than what a topical is. Ant-NJITWILL (talk) 17:47, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
