[Between the ages of 11 and 22 I grew up 3 blocks from Tingley Field.]

A few things: 1) The article doesn't mention the open-air bleachers down the left and right field lines and beyond the concession stands. These could fill up for special games. 2) Notches were dug into the plaster covered adobe walls along the right field side of the stadium. During exciting moments of the game, when the guards weren't looking, we would scale the wall and drop into the stadium and disappear into the crowd...unless we got caught and escorted out the door, then we just did it again until we succeeded. 3) The "concrete baseball" on the corner of 10th and Atlantic was actually a boulder that was (is) more or less round. 4) There was a small sign (maybe 4' X 4') above the right field wall with a basketball-sized hole in it. Players who might hit a home run through the hole got a free suit courtesy of Stromberg's Men's Clothing Store. As far as I know, no one ever hit a home run through the hole. 5) After home team players hit a home run, they would make the rounds on the chicken wire backstop collecting dollar bills that fans stuck in the wire holes. The players remained fully clothed. Wikiphan44 (talk) 19:34, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
