When was it founded?[edit]

@Arminden:@Bolter21: The article says that this place was founded in 1981. However a 1956 map that I have shows it in exactly the same location (171/234). The same map series shows Timorim already in its location inland from Ashdod. Here is a 1959 map that also shows Timrat where it is now. So there seems to be some history that is missing. If you know or don't know, a kibbutz is first of all a group of people and not only the buildings. Before 1981 the people of kibbutz Timorim moved to a new location in the Negev and in the old location a communal settlement was established. The communal settlement was without doubt established in 1981 but it was established on the abandoned buildings of Timorim, built in 1947–1954. According to what I"ve read, in 1981 they started by building 250 housing units, and satellite pictures of the settlement have shown a locality that looks nothing like the avarage kibbutz but more like the avarage private settlements, which always have a designed road system, unlike the kibbutzim which are usually just a crowded cluster of houses serounded by small roads. Yes, but my point is that in the 1950s it was already called "Timrat". So whatever was established in 1981, it didn't introduce that name. The name "Timrat" appeared at that location sometime between 1948 and 1956. Zero^talk 12:16, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to Mapa, the location was used between 1954 to 1981 as a "training farm for farmers". I guess you can come up with a better name for that in English. There are many examples of farms or schools that apear as localities in maps and locality lists dispite having no permanent residents. It doesn't have any population in the 1948, 1961, 1972 or 1983 censuses. According to the list of censuses the settlement was established in 1983 while according to the website of the settlement, the construction started in 1981, so there is really a problem with sources here.--Bolter21 (talk to me) 16:11, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
