Relation between thymosin alpha 1 and prothymosin alpha 1[edit]

I re-arranged the opening definition of the newly split page to start with thymosin rather than prothymosin, since the former is the topic of the page. Because prothymosin evidently has a (probably unrelated and somewhat mysterious) function of its own, I have deleted the reference to "mature" thymosin alpha 1, which rather implies prothymosin exists merely as an "immature" precursor of thymosin alpha. Although such is a common relationship amongst proteins, it doesn't really apply in this case. Jgedwards (talk) 23:45, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Effects on CFTR studied[edit]

Research uncovers potential new treatment to treat and stop progression of cystic fibrosis seems worth mentioning, eg re CFTR. It says Tα1 is not available in USA (but doesn't say why). - Rod57 (talk) 15:29, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

COVID-19[edit]

China heavily used this for COVID-19, is there any research on this?

Thymosin alpha 1 (Tα1) reduces the mortality of severe COVID-19 by restoration of lymphocytopenia and reversion of exhausted T cells. Liu et al.
