Absurd stuff

The RBI has recognized it as a Banking town, that doesn't give this a nickname of "Banking town of India". THis is clear Original research and POV pushing, but I don't want to revert again right now. These sort of absurd edits should stop. —SpacemanSpiff 21:13, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Intro change

Someone is constantly changing the intro part by adding Airport. There is no need for aiprort in the intro.

Distance Chart added

Hi, I have added a distance chart for Thrissur to important towns/cities/tourist destinations/pilgrimage centers etc. The distances have been calculated using Google Maps and the most popular route. Cheers - MountainWhiskey - talk 05:10, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Distance to capital and other cities in the LEAD

I propose Distance to capital and other cities be removed from the Lead. Some editors' contention is that the Distance to the capital be mentioned in order to help identify the geographic location of the city. In this case, the capital is more than 300Kms from the city. IMO, that is way too far a city to be tagged to, to geo-identify Thrissur. If the map is not good enough and a single line with distance to a city is more convincing, then the nearest important city should be mentioned. Kochi is the best example considering Kochi is widely known as the commercial capital of the state and is within 75Kms south of Kochi. But again, the problem is, if you added Kochi, there would be rampant reverts, edits and vandalism as can be seen currently and in the past. There have been several anonymous IPs at work constantly reverting topics under discussion and trying to trigger edit wars on Kochi, Kozhikode etc. Distances shall be removed from the lead to avert such edit wars. Also please visit Talk: KozhikodeTalk:Kozhikode#Shortening_the_leadto see how editors have somewhat reached a consensus and removed the distances thus avoiding any edit wars. Please pitch in with your valuable suggestions, especially Senior Editors. Thanks - MountainWhiskey - talk 01:31, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Old Name

The Old Name should be pronounced Thrishivaperoor. —Shyamjayan (talk) 06:41, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

I think we should merge Thrissur Metropolitan Area to this. The merge tag was placed, but I couldn't find a discussion. Thoughts? Lynch7 19:20, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Agree with MikeLynch. I don't think a separate authority exists for controlling the Metropolitan area of Thrissur like Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority or Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority. This is just an urban agglomeration and has no significance. Commander (Ping me) 16:15, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Agree with MikeLynch. There is no seperate governing authority for this UA. Hence not significant to be in a seperate page. --Samaleks (talk) 16:55, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
