Minor Goths it should be. I've never heard of Moesogoths before! The Minor Goths were the earliest Christianized Goths, led by bishop Wulfila, the translator of the Gothic Bible. The article is about Goths settled in Moesia, but the title implies it is about the Goths in Thrace such as the ones Theoderic Strabo led (who Peter Heather believes to have been settled much later). The article is definitely about Theoderic Strabo's Goths. It appears to be mostly from Wolfram, p. 271, who treats the "Thracian" Goths of Strabo and the "Moesian" Goths of Theoderic the Great as branches of the Ostrogoths. It isn't clear to me that we need an article on "Thracian Goths" (=Goths in Thrace) at all. An article on the earlier Goths of Ulfilas in Moesia might be more useful, but probably better under the title "Minor Goths" or "Gothi minores" as proposed in the section above. In any case, this article isn't it. (The term "Moesogoths" seems to be a backformation from "Moesogothic", a linguistic term invented by Rasmus Rask, I think.) I have been reading Wolfram and Heather and others on this topic, and I am waiting for a new book or two. My understanding is that Heather would distinguish the Thracian Goths of the 4th century, who he thinks were Adrianople Goths of one type or another, who mainly joined Alaric, and the 5th century, whose origin he is not so sure of, but who he thinks mainly became Ostrogoths. Lots of ways to skin this cat, so maybe I should report back after reading around a bit.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 17:07, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is possibly going to be a case where much of the article can stay on this title, but a new article is needed for the Moesian Goths? I still need to read more but I see no evidence that the Moesian Goths are ever simply equated to the Thracian ones.
