Merge proposal[edit]

I think this content could be merged into Video referee. Video referee could be developed as a summary page to show how these officials are used across different sports (see Penalty card as an example). Although third umpire is of course the name given in cricket, "video referee" would also be a more descriptive title. Comments welcome. Goldfinger820 (talk) 10:14, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In cricket, this position is always called Third Umpire. Video Referee is the term used in other games. Hence, This article should be retained. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.88.239.42 (talk) 13:19, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that video referee should be the summary page, but do not see why that would mean this page should be merged into it. video referee should, and does, contain some brief information on the third umpire while this page can go into more details. Mattlore (talk) 23:33, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Mattlore, the Third Umpire article can go into a lot more detail than a brief summary on the Video Referee page. It should be possible for each sport to have a page as well as a summary on the main video ref page. LunarLander // talk // 00:08, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
