Is there any reason for two articles here? The Amazons were explicitly said to be from the real city of Themiscyra on the Thermodon River, not from any mythical place.

I'm assuming you mean merge this with the Themyscira article? I'm normally a big advocate of consolidating/merging articles, but in this case I'd be hesitant because the fictional topic article would so overshadow/dominate this one.
