synonym of pseudo cleft[edit]

Hi Tony
good job. It seems to me that pseudo cleft is a more common name for the phenomenon you are describing. "Thematic equative" seems to be an SFG term. As soon as someone creates pseudo cleft, the SFG treatment thereof should be moved there to allow easy comparison with other approachesJasy jatere (talk) 18:38, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rereading your article, I notice that specification (linguistics) would also be interesting. Too sad that all these links are red :-(.

"That's what I meant" does not seem a good example to me. The sentence is not about "that" but about "what I meant". I think the thematic equative would be "What I meant was (precisely) this". But then, if Halliday himself uses that example, then it should remain like this

You might also want to check whether you want to link to Dik's functional grammar, or to Halliday's Systemic functional grammar. Jasy jatere (talk) 18:38, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IIRC, the use of colours as only distinguishing feature is discouraged because colour-blind people will not be able to make use of that colour coding. Maybe use some other mechanism, like underlining. Jasy jatere (talk) 19:16, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
