Recent reversions[edit]

On 2 April 2015 User:HihiPete changed one of the track's writers to Michelle Parker without providing a reliable source (see here). I changed it back to Mikela Uniacke and supplied a reliable source as a reference, ASCAP (see here).

At the same time I added further information including charting and a critical review. All of this was verified by reliable sources.

Recently Freshacconci reverted the entire edit (see here) with the edit summary: Reverted 1 edit by Shaidar cuebiyar (talk): ASCAP not a source; we go by WP:COMMONNAME, the name used on records.

The reversion has caused all the additional material to be removed without any justification. I request Freshacconci and other interested editors to provide their opinion on the status of the following:

(a) Mikela Uniacke vs Michelle Parker

  1. Mikela Uniacke is the name the song is registered to, according to ASCAP. Other reliable sources with her name include:
    1. NZ Charts ref, already in the article.
    2. Swedish Charts Portal, here
    3. Official Swiss Hit Parade, here
    4. Chris Gilbey (single's co-producer), here
  2. WP:COMMONNAME refers to article titles, not to people without any article. I would still argue that her common name is Mikela Uniacke in her home country, and throughout Europe: where she mostly works and resides.

(b) Charting information: why is all this information deleted?

  1. This is important data about the single's commercial appeal: both Australian and New Zealand chart data is verified by reliable sources.

(c) Critical review: why is this contemporarneous opinion by a critic removed?

  1. Previously the article only had a single post-2000 review and a comment by Kilbey. A contemporary opinion is important for the context of the song's acceptance by critics, writing at that time.

I await your response.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:58, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Added more sources for Uniacke. Add more information at points b & c.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:36, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just my opinion, but googling suggests the use of Michelle Parker is massively more used than Uniacke. I would go with that and address the use of the other name in the text.Doctorhawkes (talk) 03:13, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with Doctorhawkes. Although WP:COMMONNAME explicitly refers to article titles and as there is no guideline pertaining to the name of a person without an article (that I'm aware of), common sense would dictate that we follow the existing guideline. Since most if not all recordings use the Michelle Parker name and what few written sources that exist use it as well, that would fall under "common name". It seems in Europe her real name is in use but in the English-speaking world where she is basically known for co-writing this song, Parker is the common name. An explanation in the text would be sufficient. freshacconci talk to me 14:16, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
