Ashkenazi jews[edit]

are not Khazars. they were known to the old world as Phrygians. Phrygia were part of Macedonian army of Alexander. Gomer (גֹּמֶר, Standard Hebrew Gómer, Tiberian Hebrew Gōmer, pronounced [ɡoˈmeʁ]) was the eldest son of Japheth (and of the Japhetic line), and father of Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah, according to the "Table of Nations" in the Hebrew Bible, (Genesis 10). Khazars are turkic peoples related to Russians and Bulgars. 89.205.2.29 (talk) 22:21, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Research itself is not able to confirm lineage of any kind to Central Asian Turkic types.

Can it be confirmed the Khazars were in fact a Turkic people? Turkic language would supplant Indo-Iranian language as Turkic peoples became prominent in Turan during the 6th century. Can it be disputed the people of Khazaria are not in fact more closely related to Scythians?

Cimmerians are said to be of Gomer-father of Ashkenaz. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.153.48.25 (talk) 21:47, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New genetic research[edit]

I intend to restore my edit that includes references to Elhaik, Sand and Israel Bartal. Given that this article includes a section entitled "Genetic research", it is highly relevant to include the most recent research and opinion. This: "Khazar theory was discarded by serious academics" is simply not true - Elhaik, Sand and Israel Bartal are nothing if not "serious academics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brewerstroupe (talkcontribs) 21:28, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
