This article was the subject of an educational assignment in Spring 2015. Further details were available on the "Education Program:Oregon State University/ENG 206: The Victorian Period to the Twentieth Century (Spring 2015)" page, which is now unavailable on the wiki.

Untitled[edit]

This story is about a terrifying world where animals think and act like humans but it's morally acceptable to kill them. The UK homicide law refers to the killing of "any reasonable creature (human being)". Homicide: Murder and Manslaughter This would theoretically include the imaginary anthropomorphic animals in Beatrix Potter and other similar stories. Perhaps the moral implications weren't considered because the whole story is imaginary. Perhaps 19th century people were more influenced by JudeoChristian ideas that humans have dominion over animals and paid less attention to the imagined intelligence of the anthropomorphic animal. ENG 206[edit]

For our ENG 206 project, we (Amelia, Brittany, Kaitlyn and Nolan) plan to do a few things to improve the article. We want to review the information and citations provided by previous editors. This process will involve going through each of the existing citations, confirming them, but then also checking to see if any superior sources can be found (ie; taking the citation from a reference to a .com to being from a .org or .edu).

We also hope to add in what information we can find about the media portrayal of this story. This will include a reference to the live action film that has been made of the story, as well as a link (with an included date of known availability) to where the film appears to be available in full on YouTube. As I noted, this will include a date of addition so that if the link eventually becomes unavailable, it can be easily traced to when our edits were made and users will know they can then delete the link to the video if it is no longer active.

Though there seems to be limited information available about the story (from anywhere online), we still hope to at least add what we can and set up the page with headings to imply what will hopefully be filled in at some point. This can include the existing headings along with whatever additional section headers we decide might be useful to readers at some point. --- 11:51 8 May 2015

Great job on the history and explanation of the story but watch out for a few little grammatical errors. Maybe try to add more to the criticism section by adding something that talks highly of story to show that not everyone thought it was bad or too long.
