Ray Allen's shot is now "The Shot"[edit]

It's clearly obvious that this article should be replaced by an article on Ray Allen's shot in game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. Please update the article to reflect this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.108.242.37 (talk) 02:22, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Describing the play[edit]

This is one of those things in which you're going to get a different description of what happened depending upon who you ask. A Jordan or Bulls fan is going probably call it a great play from start to finish, while a Cavaliers fan may say "he pushed off", " he ran into" with the implication being that Jordan committed an offensive foul that wasn't called. The best thing to do in my opinion is try to keep the language as neutral as possible and describe the basic physical movements of the play without any puffery or implication of an uncalled foul being committed. This is why I undid changes made in June 2015 with this edit. Clarification is fine, but unsupported subjective interpretation is not.

At the same time, if there was controversy regarding whether a foul should've been called which received coverage in the US national sports media, then that can be added supported by citations to reliable sources. Local media from Chicago or Cleveland probably should be used carefully since it may be more of a case of editorializing than critical commentary, but any official statements from the NBA regarding the play (if the NBA did that back then like it occasionally does now) might be worth mentioning if such statements can be supported by citations to reliable sources. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:48, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
