On 27 November 2021, it was proposed that this article be moved from The Rangers (British regiment) to The Rangers (1860–1960. The result of the discussion was consensus that the current name isn't correct.

The result of the move request was: consensus that the current name isn't correct. I've provisionally moved it to The Rangers (British battalion) as at least a more strictly correct version. Rename as The Rangers (volunteers). The new regiment, although formally called the Ranger Regiment, will undoubtedly be known as the Rangers, so changed disambiguation is necessary. But I think this is better than dates, although if others disagree I would support the use of dates rather than the current title. Also, it wasn't really ever a regiment in its own right. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:43, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I agree with Necrothesp that some rename will be necessary, and that the dates in the title is not the best option. I'm not certain what the best option is. My interim suggestion would be The Rangers (British regiment, est. 1860) but I'm sure that's not in line with policy. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 01:51, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment, I concur with the feeling that a rename may be wise, though I am similarly not keen on the dates suggestion. Also, The Rangers (volunteers) seems somewhat ambiguous as to what it relates to, until you view the page. Possibly The Rangers (volunteer unit), The Rangers (volunteer army) or The Rangers (volunteer regiment), though the idea if they were an actual regiment has been disputed above.
