Copyright status[edit]

All works published in 1925 entered the public domain in the United States on January 1. Per @Vegan4Life:, sources are claiming The Pleasure Garden is copyrighted until 1 Jan 2023 due to it not being released in the UK until 1927. However, it was released in Germany in 1925, albeit under a different title. I won't revert as IANAL but I think we should come to a consensus on this. Does The Pleasure Garden count as being released in 1925 due to its showing in Germany, or do we wait until 2023 for the 1927 date? PDMagazineCoverUploading (talk) 08:18, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you gone straight to a full-blown thirty-day formal RfC on this without observing WP:RFCBEFORE? In any case, the copyright status of a film is a very specialised field, not suited for a general noticeboard like RFC. Have you looked at WP:Questions to find a more appropriate venue? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:10, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Article has been updated again to reflect a public domain date of January 1, 2022. According to the reference, this seems definitive.Vegan4Life (talk) 15:11, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
