Deserves to exist?[edit]

This TV program discussed in this article is an umbrella title for reruns of two pre-existing series, as well as a new, third season for one (The New Batman Adventures, although the claim here that some of its episodes premiered after this packaging was dropped seems very dubious). Notice that this article consists of a textual intro and some lists, and the need for its existence becomes wide open to debate. All this information is covered in the articles for the other series, and a brief note of this formatting in them (if one isn't on each already) should suffice. The claim that this show is a repackaging of other titles is questionable! The airdates for THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES for the entire third season match the WB Kids schedule for THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES. It would appear that this is the true broadcast series premiering these episodes. Additionally, the airdates for SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES for all of Season 2 and Season 3 also match the WB Kids schedule for the series. If we accept the WB Schedule here:

http://tviv.org/Kids'_WB!/Saturday_Morning_Schedules[1]

We see the last airing of Superman: The Animated Series was July 11,1998. From then on, the only show airing on WB Kids! that could air Superman episodes was THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES. So we must conclude that the Superman episodes for Season 3 were premiered on this show as well as the Batman episodes for its Season 3 earlier. Since the Kids WB schedule does indicate SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES also ran during 1997 through July 11, 1998 it is uncertain if the Season 2 Superman episodes premiered during THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES or SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. At that time both series were scheduled on the same day so it needs to be verified which one premiered the episodes.

It appears likely that THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES is the true original series and that THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES is actually the syndication package series and that SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES is only an original series for Season One and becomes the syndication package series for Season Two (probably) and Season Three (definitely). Further verification is welcomed. Entrynotfound (talk) 07:00, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CONFIRMATION: I just came across a WB press release for the 97-98 season:

http://wbtower.nfshost.com/ata/prfall97.txt[2] It confirms that Season 3 Batman episodes (aka THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES) indeed premiered in the block of THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES. Also, it confirms that the Season 2 Superman episodes did NOT premiere in that block but, instead were debuted in the airings of SUPERMAN:THE ANIMATED SERIES that aired prior to it on Saturday morning until the fall 98 season. At that time SUPERMAN:THE ANIMATED SERIES stopped airing, and we can safely assume that Season 3 Superman episodes debuted in the block of THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES at that time.

"All-new episodes of the, Emmy Award-winning series "Batman" will be added to Kids' WB! Saturday mornings, along with now-classic episodes of the top-rated, award-winning series which will rotate weekday afternoons with "Superman" under the moniker -- "The New Batman/Superman Adventures." While the new "Batman" will be lighter in tone and look, the stories will be full of the traditional dramatic Dynamic Duo escapades, featuring Batman, Robin, Batgirl and other DC Comics' favorites. Additionally, viewers will be able to enjoy some all-new adventures with "Superman" on Saturday mornings and recent favorites weekday afternoons."[3]

Further, I have found no indication that there ever was a syndicated package of THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES and believe this was simply a way to refer to the Batman part of THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES. It eventually joined the prior Batman seasons in the syndication package of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES just as the Superman season 3 episodes from the block eventually joined its prior seasons to form SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. I will endeavor to correct references to the series' original status in each of the wiki pages mentioned. Entrynotfound (talk) 09:02, 7 November 2012 (UTC)Entrynotfound[reply]
