Jessie[edit]

The reality of the character Jessie Bradshaw (I'm taking your word for the last name) is quite different from what is suggested in this article and the main Jonny Quest one. She was in only one episode, in which she appeared essentially out of nowhere to ask the Quest party to help her find her father, a missing scientist. Just that one, and judging from the episode list here, it's "Deadly Junket." That plot was rehashed as an aspect of the feature Jonny's Golden Quest which was otherwise a direct follow-up to this series with the same voice actors as Dr. Quest and Race. However, a climactic revelation there—different from the episode—was that she was not the missing scientist's daughter, but lying under threats from Dr. Zin. This time she was revealed to be the daughter of Jade (sounding nothing like Cathy Lewis [voice of JoBeth Williams, in fact] and looking little like the original series' character) and Race Bannon! It seems they had wed way back when but decided that marriage and espionage work didn't mix; lasted long enough for her to get pregnant, though, but she never told him. At any rate, the text in both articles incorrectly implies Jessie to have been a regular here and she wasn't, so I'm going to change that and link to here in my edit summary.

Furthermore, that film and Jonny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects are direct follow-ups to this series with, as I said, Dr. Quest and Race voiced by the same actors (according to the IMDb for the second one, anyway; I haven't seen it), and they therefore should be mentioned here, also coming from me. --Ted Watson (talk) 21:56, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move nomination[edit]

The title The New Adventures of Jonny Quest would seem to be of similar origin as Space Ghost and Dino Boy for the series actually telecast invariably as Space Ghost. I suspect that it existed only on Hanna-Barbera paperwork to differentiate these 13 episodes from the original 26 of 1964-1965. It is a fact, after all, that they were all packaged together for the initial broadcasts of these under the original title, if further under the Fun-tastic World umbrella title with three other series. SG & DB was fabricated for H-B records well after-the-fact to avoid confusion with cable's Space Ghost Coast to Coast, according to our article on that old Saturday morning series. Hence, as I nominated that article for a move that was made after a year's wait for comment and honored in being left in place, I hereby nominate The New Adventures of Jonny Quest be moved to Jonny Quest (1986 TV series), Jonny Quest (1980s TV series), or something of the sort. Maybe even Jonny Quest (1980s episodes). Unlike the Space Ghost move, I will not make that decision by default; the issue of more appropriate title here is definitely trickier than that one, but must be made as I do not see the need for this move any more debatable than that one was. --Tbrittreid (talk) 20:58, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to the Classic Series[edit]

This parenthetical note about how the original JQ series was included in FWoHB doesn't say enough: "each episode was missing about five minutes of footage edited for time constraints and content." The episodes were originally about 25-1/2 minutes (including titles and commercial bumpers). On FW, they ran 21-22 minutes. Most of the difference was from video "time compression," which meant they were shown so that a scene that took 100 seconds originally took only 90 seconds (I don't know what the actual ratio was).

Saying the edits were done for "content" plays into the undocumented assumption that old Jonny Quest episodes had violent content removed. For FWoHB, the JQ content edits were mostly Bandit comedy bits.

During their first broadcast on FWoHB, Jonny Quest had the original opening and closing credits, which take up about 2.25 minutes of air time. When they were repeated after the 13 new episodes were incorporated, the classic episodes had the 1986-style opening and closing credits, which had a very short run time.

What I'm saying is, the parenthetical note is vague and probably should be removed. I don't think there's a way to clarify it without taking overpowering the article. ClassicCF (talk) 20:01, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
