October 26 or October 27? Which one is the release date?[edit]

There have been a flood of anonymous users who have said that the release date is October 26. Their home page says that the release date of the album is October 26 in one spot. However, the trailer says that it was released October 27, and everything else seems to indicate that it was released on October 27, such as the Blabbermouth source. If anyone has been at a music store both those dates and can confirm which date the aelbum was released, then that would be very convenient. I want thisedit conflict to be over with. I work at a Sam Goody/F.Y.E. and I can confirm that the official release date for the album was in fact Monday, 26 October 2009. I really don't know WHY all this music came out on Monday this week, but it wasn't just BTBAM. 75.138.214.127 (talk) 05:11, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing that. BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 23:36, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would that count as a studio album, considering its status as a cover album? My vote is no, but some anonymous users beg to differ and are counting it as such, marking The Great Misdirect as their sixth studio album and Colors as their fifth studio album. Colors and The Great Misdirect are their fourth and fifth studio albums respectively with original material. I would like some extra opinions on this matter. Covers albums can be tricky. Some artists release them for fun, others release them as studio albums. Metallica's Garage Inc. and Placebo's Covers are cover albums that are generally not considered studio albums, but Rage Against the Machine's Renegades and more recently Hatebreed's For the Lions are considered studio albums. The album infobox used to have a cover album code for the "Type" field, but was removed in February 2009 because editors felt that most cover albums were often considered studio albums anyways and the artists did have to enter a studio to record them. I disagree with this and feel that it really depends on the artist. Did The Anatomy Of spawn any singles or music videos? What about the sources for The Great Misdirect, do they say fifth or sixth? I could see this going either way. To my knowledge there were no singles or music videos released from The Anatomy Of, which are generally used to promote studio albums. However, Between the Buried and Me do not have many other albums (EPs, compilation albums, B-sides albums, split albums, video albums, etc) which could indicate that this was not a "just for fun" album, and is an actual studio album. There probably should be some consensus made on the talk page for either Between the Buried and Me or The Anatomy Of. Fezmar9 (talk) 04:29, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The genre is "progressive metalcore" as "progressive death metal" is not a term that exists. Thank you.Savagebladez (talk) 05:24, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Progressive death metal is actually a genre of death metal. Look at bands like Death and Early Nocturnus. Simply because it's not a page on Wikipedia, doesn't mean it's not real. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DoubleBassLover (talkcontribs) 17:10, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

Progressive metal,[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] death metal[10][11]

These reviews and every review I find openly say in their reviews that the band have CONTINUED THEIR ABANDONMENT from their metalcore sound from their early years. It implies that the album is NOT metalcore. They even proved in the reviews that they are now progressive metal or death metal by describing the album's sound. The last time there was genre debates on the band was back in around 2009. Years ago. But these sources say so. If you really disagree with this, just reply here.

Since you insist on making change to a number articles about the same band. I would recommend continuing your discussion at the bands talkpage. Ridernyc (talk) 20:48, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why does nobody visit it? The time when you seek consensus is when there is a lot of arguing on a page currently. For example, the black dahlia murder's genre was always being argued here and once it had full protection than semi protection. Because people wouldn't tolerate the site calling them deathcore. But melodic death metal is allowed, however their 2001 demo was metalcore, other than that they are melodeath. On thr talk page a consensus got on the genre

Well, it does look like "a departure from metalcore" is sourced enough. I won't protest this addition, nor will I participate in the genre feuding that got this page semi-protected. However, in the meantime, let's make sure that this page becomes stable, preferrably moreso than before the increase in activity which led to said semi-protection. Also, some of the associated sources are repeated within the article, and that needs to be fixed so that there is only one citation per link. I might do that later. The main thing is people need to discuss this and build consensus and stop reverting. Ridernyc (talk) 00:34, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There wasn't any argument til you came. Just letting you know that. Genres are sourced, which means they can be there. No such consensus can be made reducing a recording act to (a) precise genre(s). Please see WP:GENRE#Behavior pattern and motivations for info.

I don't know much about genres, but I do know that edit warring over them is, well, stupid. I'm not saying the two of you are stupid, I'm spending time about changing a set of music from one arbitrary opinion to another is not a productive use of your time, given that edit warring won't actually solve the problem. Please figure it out here, use dispute resolution as needed. I've protected the page for 4 days to give you time to work this out. Any resumption of edit warring after that will result in blocks. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:04, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Qwyrxian, I think that your changing of protection from semi to full is a very worthy, deserving decision. This type of feuding is unneeded. Mungo Kitsch (talk) 07:24, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
