Brian Ong's death

This article makes it appear as if Brian Ong was mainly responsible for his own death, according to the documentation of this case, All Pro Wrestling is mainly to blame. Here are some important facts from the case:

Mr. Ong suffered a concussion during a practice session and instead of being advised to seek medical attention and take time off from his training to fully recover, he was given a lower evaluation for not avoiding injuries and was told to continue practicing and performing.

All Pro Wrestling did not provide Mr. Ong with any protective gear or any supervision by APW staff, and the floor mats provided were not adequate to cushion the impact of such maneuvers.

We would need a reliable and neutral source for this information. The actual verdict would probably provide that. The source provided above is obviously going to be very one-sided. However, if a reasonable consensus can be achieved with editors of this page, I am quite happy to make a protected edit before the protection expires. Additionally, I have reason to believe Verdict (talk · contribs) has been prohibited from any further vandalism and so would consider lifting the protection early. The problem here, though, is that this user regularly lies and so there's no good reason to believe the vandalism has stopped. --Yamla 00:02, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't see how the above source appears to be unreliable and very one-sided if you've read it. The article is written by a law firm that covers certain cases, and if you took the time to read it, you would see that the very first sentence of the article gave the verdict:

Hayward, CA - The San Francisco Law Firm of Hersh & Hersh announced that an Alameda County Superior Court jury quickly reached a unanimous verdict earlier this week in the case against the owner of All Pro Wrestling ("APW") of Hayward, California, finding the wrestling school liable for reckless behavior. MackyMackn 02:04, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

It was Ong who asked for the move to be given again to him, Hershlaw is biased 203.145.159.44 09:48, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Where's your proof? You probably work for APW. MackyMackn 00:19, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

For all of your arguements and statements, I have edited the article so that it reads Singh contributed to the death as killed sounds malicious, which an accident is not. Madslocodemente 01:50, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

I fixed your vandalism and blatant disrespect to the dead.

I do hope you are not talking to me there, all I did was change the wording so that it did not make Dalip Singh sound like a murderer. I like the way it is now worded, reads well and gives clarity to the situation. Madslocodemente 22:32, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Khali's photos

Hello!I would request the editors this page to have some more photos of khali.Since now he is a big superstar,it doesnt look good to just have only one photo of him. So,plz if you have good photos of him,plz upload it & paste it on yhemain page of khali.

Awesome new pic of Khali. The guy is huge.

I would love to see more of his bodybuilding photos. I heard that the guy has won Mr. India! There must be some pictures of him ripped to threads at 380 lbs or so. :)

They could put GreatKhaliStance.jpg before his World Title reign. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kennedyniles (talkcontribs) 02:02, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Proposed Move

I've been wondering if maybe soon we should consider moving this page to the Great Khali. He's starting to get more well-known, and that's generally what Wikipedia does with some wrestlers after a period of time. ---Seabiscuit_1982 19:02, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Correction

The Great Khali is not the Intercontinental Champion. Jeff Hardy retained his championship on RAW. Khali did win the match however, but only by count-out, in which the belt does not change hands. -Divided_sum January 29, 2007

Khali's

Khali has also worked for the milk brand in Punjab "dudh piyo verka"

Hi. Can you provide any link to back that up? Even to a milk ad in non-English language would be better than nothing. See WP:CITE. Thanks --Justanother 13:40, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

Why has an alleged description of his family's genitalia been allowed to remain in the article? Needless to say, it has been deleted. For anyone who feels that it is necessary, and I can't believe anyone would, please show a reference of some sort to substaniate the claim. Lincoln187 11:08, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

"- When asked about the size of his family members, Singh said that all other members of his family, including his parents and siblings, are of normal height."

I don't see anything about genitalia in what he removed. The size of his family members. Like are ther other really tall people in his family

Actually, there was at one point. I had removed it and didn't leave a note, I apologize. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Great_Khali&diff=next&oldid=113143794 64.254.37.147 08:43, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

In the very last line under 2007 it says something about his sexuality and I was just wondering if that's supposed to be there or not

Khali moving around

What is the deal with this guy? First he is on Smackdown, the ECW, then he goes to raw. Why has he been moved around so much? Big Boss 0 14:49, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Khali's been moved around because they can't use him in a decent storyline so they throw him from brand to bran, fighting the big guys. He's just a bad gimmick, really. But the discussion doesn't really belong here, though. Slayer425 17:33, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Gigantism?

I read on www.khali.info that he did'nt have any sort of gigantism, but in the bottom of Khali's wikipedia, thers a link called people with gigantism. When you click on the link, it shows you a list of people with gigantism and the name Dalip Singh is listed. Should it be removed? Emilos 06:24, 12 March 2007 (UTC)emilos

the page of the great khali is not updated time to time. plzz see on this matter. after all he is the pride of india

he doesnt have gigantism. if he did then he wuld be fat, not muscly gigantism keeps the human body growing no matter wat age u are. thts why andre the giant is difficult to figure out. he was 7'0 wen he was 20yrs but in his 30's hes meant to be 7'4, but in real life he was meant to be 7'0.

Name

Shouldn't this be under "Dalip Singh Rana?"

Agreed, all articles i've seen claim his name is Dalip Singh Rana and not Joel Belman. The article states clearly that his familys name is Rana and "Joel Belman" doesn't sound very Indian to me.

Whats with the title over his picture?

Sorry, I'm not sure how wikipedia works or if anyone will read this message but why does the title over his picture say 'Fat Paki'? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.71.122.94 (talk) 22:52, 14 May 2007 (UTC).

Height/Weight Corrections ?

I have heard the ring announcers announce his height/weight as is currently on Wikipedia. However, other wrestlers, ring announcers, even the McMahons mention (7'5", 450 lbs.) as his height and weight. Anybody else notice this? Chicablog 23:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

yes they do say 7'5 but 7'3 is what the WWE offically bill him at. Most of the guys in the WWE are well short of his height and if Kane can get away with 7'0 then they will try to make this guy as big as possible. Legit Khali is about 7'0.5-7'1

In the Longest Yard they claimed that he had been measured and was officially 7'10"

look at pics of him next to giant silva, giant silva is 7'2, or meant to be, but he looks shorter than khali. they pulled him off as 7'5 on wwf. i think khali is 7'2. he looks it too, has one inch ovver big show and hes like 7'0 or he says 7'1. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 222.154.47.7 (talk) 08:05:01, August 19, 2007 (UTC)

How could he be 7'10, look at him next to a 6'3 batista, and he is taller than him but he is not THAT much taller than him. Like the person above me said, he is only about 7'0.5 or 7'1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.113.39.210 (talk) 01:46, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Khali still on Punjab police pay rolls 30 Mar 2008, 0144 hrs IST,Rohit Mullick,TNN

HANDIGARH: Dalip Singh Rana was always big. And almost always very hungry.

For food he would do anything. Back home in his Himachal village of Sirmour, he did odd jobs to fill his great appetite - as night watchman, construction labourer, waiter at road-side dhabas - but still craved for things to eat.

That was before the 7 feet 3 inch-tall Rana metamorphosed into a 200-kg muscled monster the world now knows as The Great Khali, one of the WWE's most compelling fighters and global icon for battle-and-blood lusting teenagers and youth across continents.

But fame, money, roles in Hollywood movies like the Adam Sandler-starrer The Longest Yard and forthcoming Get Smart with Bill Murray - and food, of course - wouldn't have come Khali's way had not Punjab Police recruited him sometime in 1994, spotted strolling around Shimla's Mall with a group of students who would show him off to their girlfriends after paying the man a small fee.

The Punjab Police, it seems, is still doing Khali a good turn. He's a cop in their records, ever since former Punjab DGP MS Bhullar got him a job, and is on "leave without pay".

What's more, to help save his job, he's also "sick and indisposed" in official records.

The SI wrestler has now been on leave for the last three years. Not that anybody cares, really. A senior police officer, smiling with pride spoke of how his colleague is on medical leave "but is thrashing foreign opponents with his Indian fist."

ADGP Rajan Gupta of PAP, where Khali is "posted" in Jalandhar, said, "I don't think there is anything wrong in extending his leave. He is an asset to the department and an exception can always be made." The love for Khali runs across departments. ADGP (law and order) Chander Shekhar said, "He has become a brand and in my opinion his name should instead be suggested for a Padma Shree or any other national award."

His family, some of whom are now in the police, too are backing him. "I don't think my brother has done anything wrong in asking for leave," said Mangat Singh Rana, Khali's younger sibling. "Don't ask us about his leave. We just want to enjoy the next match in Atlanta on March 30. He'll beat up everybody again." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aprchi (talkcontribs) 09:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

In early 2006, when Singh first signed with the WWE he was wrestling under his real name Dalip Singh, not the name Giant Singh (which he used in Japan). When he made his Smackdown debut his name was changed to The Great Khali. Under the ring names Dalip Singh should be added too.

Conflicting Sources

In the 'Personal Life' section, one source says "Singh married Harminder Kaur on February 27, 2002[5] and says he is a vegetarian, abhoring tobacco and alcohol[9]" Then, three lines later, it says "Singh’s training schedule consists of two hours of weight training, morning and evening, every day. Maintaining his size requires a strict and intimidating daily dietary regimen: one gallon of milk, five chickens and two dozen eggs, along with chapatis, juice and fruit. [54] [55]" So is he a vegetarian or does he scrump on milk, chickens and eggs every day? Livewireo (talk) 20:19, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not an expert of the subject, but he's vegetarian, not vegan. He can eat chicken, I don't think it qualifies as meat. What do I know though? --Kaizer13 (talk) 21:59, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Apart from these few problems, The Great Khali has always been in good shape, to keep up his figure, he has to consume a lot, a popular thing said about him online is that he eats Five Chickens and Two Dozen eggs everyday, but this is wrong, this is not his daily diet, he doesn't eat Chickens and eggs everyday, but yes he eats a lot and consumes a lot of milk as well. The Great Khali also spends Two hours daily at the gym. http://www.khali.info/the-great-khali-health —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.184.213.191 (talk) 03:55, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Personal life error

in the personal life section it says he is a vegetarian but it also says he eats five chickens a day?!?Kalajan (talk) 20:22, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Please see this link which is more credible (IMO) than the 2 "sources" saying he eats chicken: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7384920.stm The man says he is a vegetarian and vegetarians don't eat chicken.

BUT...not everyone uses that term in the same way. For instance, there are those who eat fish and chicken but still call themselves vegetarians because to them "vegetarian" only means not eating _red_ meat. So what he chooses to call himself in itself does not prove anything.

any word on this? I think the BBC is way more credible than a blog and an unofficial fan site, which are the current sources cited for his diet. 128.192.20.135 (talk) 20:36, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

The BBC are no more or less credible than anyone else. They make mistakes all the time. Do you believe everything the media Establishment tells you?

The BBC are more likely to be held to account for errors in their publishing then a blog site that nobody bothers with. This fact alone, even if both make mistakes, mean that they are more likely to verify thier information then the blog site, and it means they are infinitely more likely to correct those errors on request. Nobody believes EVERYTHING the establishment tells them, but most people rightly believe them more them a site that has no moral obligation to report the truth.
That said, the section still states that he is vegetarian with a citation needed tag, then goes on to state it is unknown if his diet includes meat or not. So again, any clarification on this? MrZoolook (talk) 18:12, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Yes. It would make sense. He used to have an article, people decided he wasn't significant enough, and it was removed. However, he's been on TV for a couple of years now, and gets more air time than some of the talent that's listed. Kjscotte34 (talk) 17:26, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

why is khali not playin WWE now —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.192.104.99 (talk) 02:45, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Speaking of him, i just noticed that he isn't mentioned in the article AT ALL until like... the present. And then for managers, of course. Shouldn't he be mentioned at least when he first went on the air or something? 3pointswish (talk) 07:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Ranjin Singh currently redirects to this article. This is wrong. He should have his own article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.234.192.28 (talk) 00:24, 24 February 2010 (UTC) '

Agreed - The discussion of merge with The Great Khali page is from 2008 and outdated. Ranjin Singh has been a manager and writer for the WWE for several years now, and rightly should have his own page back on wikipedia or a new discussion held. pretzolio (talk) 23:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Plus:

He leave the Great Khali in June 2010 on MondayNight RAW for bad.

He reunited with Khali a few weeks ago, yet I cannot edit the page because it is semi-protected.92.25.205.217 (talk) 18:10, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Face turn

All it has is too much info on why he turned face, but theres nothing about what he has done in-ring. How about all those matches this year or when he was one of three survivors on Shawn Micheals team at 2008 Survivor Series. If you guys have no intention of keeping it intact, why not let ips update it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.175.16.166 (talk) 14:07, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks to these people and especially Wikipedia's Policy, you think they would? They only want Notable things and if it sources, they accept but if not, even if you are an Admin, not providing the source, they would just revert and revert until you blow up like a Volcano and so on, etc, etc, etc. Wikipedia... sigh... 202.160.45.28 (talk) 03:29, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Ring names?

This article says that one of Khali's ring names is "The Punjabi Playboy". That's more of a nickname than a ringname isn't it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.3.238.5 (talk) 16:40, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

The Great Khali's height

What is The Great Khali's real height, 7'1" or 7'3". I guess what I'm trying to ask is: is his billed height his real height? Danny Boy 420 03:01, 6 April 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Danny Boy 420 (talkcontribs)

This article is one of a small number (about 100) selected for the first week of the trial of the Wikipedia:Pending Changes system on the English language Wikipedia. All the articles listed at Wikipedia:Pending changes/Queue are being considered for level 1 pending changes protection.

The following request appears on that page:

However with only a few hours to go, comments have only been made on two of the pages.

Please update the Queue page as appropriate.

Note that I am not involved in this project any more than any other editor, just posting these notes since it is quite a big change, potentially.

Khali's fractured fibula injury should be on this article.
please add because of being a important update for his fans.
actual source of reported injury: http://www.wwe.com/inside/great-khali-injured

The only thing I'm worried about here is the possibility that this is just storyline, and WWE.com is running with it. Do you have confidence in WWE.com? I'd like to see a secondary source. The Interior (Talk) 23:30, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Obviously you dont know about WWE. WWE.com is the official website of WWE and the WWE wrestler's info are in the website.

This person isn't too confident: Prowrestling.net The Interior (Talk) 23:33, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Mikeytatelive (talk) 17:27, 11 November 2011 (UTC) Hey guys! I noticed no one edited the article to where it says the Great Khali left WWE. Already got that taken care of. ;) Look at the link that I referenced and you'll see what I mean and why I did that. Thanks guys!

Miguel Angel Fuentes was in "Evil That Men Do" not Khali; (he would've been only 12 years old.)

Punjabi Wrestler?

Just wondered why he's listed as a Punjabi wrestler in the opening paragraph rather than an Indian wrestler? 109.150.29.212 (talk) 06:39, 26 July 2014 (UTC) |Should it not at least be a redirect to "Punjab (India)"? 109.150.29.212 (talk) 07:12, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Punjab state police

> he was an officer for the Punjab state police.

On the recent Talk is Jericho episode with Khail, they talk about how he trained police so get them fit, he was never a police officer. This needs to be changed.
