The importance of this page is to provide a richer history to other pages on Wikipedia about Hydrahead Records, it's imprint Tortuga (of which The Gersch was the first release) the background and influence of Cliff Meyer in his current band Isis and his other side band Red Sparowes.

The Gersch was also an influence on the current genres of post metal/doom metal/drone metal and sludge metal.

Also the current release by The Gersch, while including older songs and recordings, has been heralded as a long lost treasure of and essential to the above mentioned genres.
