Sulhamstead[edit]

The article claims Sulhamstead as a former hq of the Thames Valley Police. No question that it was the hq of the previous Berkshire police force. But the linked Berkshire History articles seems to contradict the assertion that it became the hq of the TVP, with dates suggesting the transition to training centre happened pretty well at the same time as the force merger. So I've added 'citation needed' for this fact. -- Chris j wood 10:10, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Appointment of new Chief Constable[edit]

Just for information, it is expected that a new Chief Constable is due to be appointed in March 2007 although I suspect that Ms. Thornton is a strong candidate to get the job full time. 86.138.93.41 15:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chief Constable[edit]

Sarah Thornton has been accepted into the post of Chief Constable by the Thames Valley Police Authority. She will begin the post in April 2007, continuing in her acting role until then. I am a serving Thames Valley Officer and have been issued this news by the force e-mail system. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yatesee (talkcontribs) 14:09, 8 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I think that the section on the Chief Constable can now be edited to say simply that the Chief Constable is Sara Thornton. The current wording was good for when this was a current event, but as this has now moved into the past it looks a little flabby. ~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.6.79.200 (talk) 04:54, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sustainable Communities Act 'challenge'[edit]

This little attention seeking stunt by the local Tories is about five stages away from even reaching the DCLG's attention. They council haven't expressed an interest, the DCLG hasn't made an invitation, and it's nowhere near being shortlisted. If even the council were pushing it, then that might be another thing. (Notwithstanding that the Act simply wouldn't allow the kind of action that the petitioners want.) This fits WP:NOT#NEWS perfectly. ninety:one 16:35, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just for clarity, if a legal challenge actually goes to court, it can be included at that point, but not before. Wikipedia tries to avoid maybes and could bes. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 18:32, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Local Policing Model[edit]

This article is now out of date since the implementation of the local policing model and needs a through revamp. Who wants to do it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.27.15.82 (talk) 11:36, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Revamp[edit]

This article seems to have a bit too much detail in it and would benefit from some pruning. It is going to be rather difficult to keep on top of the dog count for one. I suspect that the person that made the edit to include all this information is a TVP employee who is sourcing the information from insider knowledge **but this cannot be independently verified by citation**

Major edit required and will need a willing volunteer!!

Cuts must be made if it is to be informative and maintainable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.27.15.82 (talk) 11:51, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Custodian Helmet[edit]

The Custodian Helmet is no longer used, it has been replaced by the Flat Patrol Hat. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.134.46.4 (talk) 11:02, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sections within the article[edit]

The article is rather heavy on volatile detail (number of police dogs) that has become out of date. It is also only presenting a snapshot of the force departments (presumably by being out of date, or because contributors don’t have a holistic view of the organisation).

I propose that the article be reduced to remove granular detail about the makeup of specialist departments and a more summary view of force organisation be presented. Thoughts? Bodgejob (talk) 11:46, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The section you mention is largely uncited. Also there is nothing very unique in the departments listed. Nearly all police forces in the UK will have very similar departments. Knowing how police forces work I can guarantee most of the granular detail will constantly change and will be, very quickly, out of date. Bowchaser (talk) 13:44, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
