Exchange prefixes[edit]

I have kept the 2001-2002 Newcastle telephone book specifically because it contains a list of the exchange prefixes that existed in the area at that time. In other words, a 2-page list of which prefixes applied to which exchanges. It was the only year that this information was published in the white pages and I'd like to find out if other area phone books also had this information.

One notable point is that the exchange prefixes can be 4, 5 or 6 digits, leaving 4, 3 or 2 digits of actual number. This is at odds with the description that was on this page, so I've reworded it accordingly.

I'm tempted to wikify that list, even though it is going to be at least partly out of date due to additional prefixes having been added. Comments? --Athol Mullen 07:31, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
