Tall (disambiguation) → Tall – "tall" does not usually just refer to human height, it's just as likely to refer to geographic features or buildings or other such things, to a child, a refrigerator is tall, so it could refer to tall furniture 70.24.251.208 (talk) 04:14, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. It would be ridiculous to have Tall as a disambiguation page, especially when virtually no one will be looking for the other items listed on the dab page if they search for "tall". Jenks24 (talk) 06:02, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- To be tall is to have a vertical extent greater than the average. (first line of this dab page) this is not in any way related to human height only, so the redirect at tall doesn't make sense, it would make more sense to retarget the redirect to List of tallest buildings in the world than where it sits now, but we have a disambiguation page. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 08:15, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Support. Per WP:AT, article titles ordinarily are nouns; a search for "tall" should take the reader to something called tall, rather than the general concept of "tallness." Support, ~~adding entry on lines of "Human height which is greater than average".~~ Interesting to note (a) that Short is a dab page (though with a wider range of topics), and (b) that Tallest and Tallness are also redirects to Human Height. I have added to the "See also" section of this dab page to help readers looking for Tall/Tallest buildings etc. (Hmm: just found that Highest redirects to Extremes on Earth... is that ideal?) The more I think about it the more complex it gets: "Tall" as a straightforward adjective means "above average in height", but then there's "five foot tall" too. Adjectives are not sought search terms - anyone at all accustomed to using an encyclopedia would search for "tallness" or "Height", or use a dictionary to find the meaning of the adjective.

Have struck out my words above, and added a couple of entries to the existing dab page, for "A degree of Height" and "A degree of Human height", as a first stab at useful links to those two relevant pages. PamD 19:53, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. I think the best solution is to retarget "tall" to height instead of human height, which is just one example of height. The clear primary meaning of "tall" is an estimator of height, of which human height is merely a subset. A person linking to the term should expect to be taken to an article addressing the dimension for which tallness is significant. bd2412 T 20:27, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
