I want to edit the country it is in. It is not in Somaliland because it doesn't exist. 109.70.82.7 (talk) 09:10, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"change region location -from Sool, Somaliland to Sool Khatumo, Somalia. "change flag from Somaliland to Somalia as the legit country. Taleh is part of Somalia, that is part of Khatumo State administration. The people in the region are not part of 'Somaliland' and moreover Somaliland is not a country, so please change the flag to the Somalia flag. Somaliland is not a recognized country so make the correction and all the pages that claim Somaliland as one. Let's fix this error or you are misinforming and proving incorrect information on this page. Thank you for your attention to this matter. 2601:480:4000:A190:E879:78F1:A6A7:8CC5 (talk) 19:55, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Taleh is part of the federal republic of Somalia. Undermining Somalia’s sovereignty is against international laws. De jure Somalia de facto Somaliland. Amin Farah ibn-Mujahid (talk) 15:23, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop the edit war[edit]

@Muscab30:@Binglebarry: The town is in a disputed area, and it makes no sense to edit the name of the ruling country just to rewrite it. Binglebarry, since Somaliland has withdrawn from Las Anod, it is impossible to say that this town is Somaliland. If you insist, please provide solid evidence that Somaliland is still involved in the administration of Taleh today. Muscab30, The fact that Somaliland has pulled out does not mean that Khatumo controls this town. If you claim that, you need solid evidence. Freetrashbox (talk) 10:11, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The evidence being that Taleh falls inside Somaliland's borders therefore its a part of Somaliland. Nor has there been any credible evidence showing that Puntland the neighboring state of Somalia has effective control. Binglebarry (talk) 18:35, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Somaliland is a de facto independent country. On the other hand, Somaliland is part of Somalia in terms of international recognition. I think most people would agree with these two points. Binglebarry, you need to prove that Taleh is a de fact part of Somaliland (in other words, Somaliland has effective control over Taleh,) or that Taleh is internationally recognized as part of Somaliland. Freetrashbox (talk) 11:38, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
First off I want to re-state what I said if it has gone unclear... "Nor has there been any credible evidence showing that Puntland the neighboring state of Somalia has effective control". If you cannot do so my clear evidence to my claims is that "Taleh falls inside Somaliland's borders therefore it's a part of Somaliland". Second, I want to tackle your claims on "Somaliland is a de facto independent country. On the other hand, Somaliland is part of Somalia in terms of international recognition." Unfortunately, this is irrelevant to your side of the argument and is completely baseless. I say this because this is a legitimate lie and contradictory. Remember the definition of "de facto" is ... "a legal concept used to refer to what happens in reality or in practice" or in other words "in reality or as a matter of fact" (in legal context). Referring back to what you said "Somaliland is a de facto independent country. On the other hand, Somaliland is part of Somalia..." is contradictory.
In addition to this, you say "... Somaliland is part of Somalia in terms of international recognition" doesn't mean anything. International recognition is simply just acknowledgement of somethings (a countries) existence. A good analogy I have for this is the following: You are human in reality. But people call you an elephant (anything other than a human would work), And then the whole world starts to agree with the individual who called you one (an elephant). Does this make you an elephant in reality? No it does not. Nor does it change the reality of what is objective. Simple. Binglebarry (talk) 05:18, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Effective control over Taleh and nearby areas is actively contested, and has not been firm for years. Presenting it as within Somaliland's borders and therefore Somaliland is as unhelpful as oversimplifications in the other direction. CMD (talk) 06:20, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
