Flagged for Promotion/Advertising + Conflict of Interest[edit]

User:LittleDwangs/Mikejamesshaw who created this page, and seems to have significantly contributed to it, seems to be one of the organisation's leading members (see: https://www.students.coop/students-for-cooperation-launches-students-coop/ ) It is not best practice for editors to engage in self-promotion like this and I would consider it a conflict of interest. Unsure whether editor is paid by this organisation, that would further complicate the matter. Issue is compounded by the fact that the editor appears to have largely based this article off of content that they created themselves. Would be ideal if other editors could step in and revise/consider the page accordingly.128.42.8.141 (talk) 23:32, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, yes I created this page back in 2014 - and yes, I had a conflict of interest as you found by checking my then username. The last time I edited the page was in 2014 when it looked like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Students_for_Cooperation&oldid=617478813 Since then it has been padded out quite substantially with a lot of waffle / excessive detail, some of inaccurate and most of it outdated - and it does indeed read like a (very poorly written) ad. The organisation is currently dormant. LittleDwangs (talk)
