Careful examination of OS maps, both 1:25000 and 1:50000, shows the Stockport/High Peak boundary running along the north-eastern side of the railway line, and the red circle representing the station is on the Stockport side of the boundary. Where is it recorded that the station is in Derbys? --Redrose64 (talk) 20:08, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, modern maps show the station is (just) within Greater Manchester. I guess the confusion arose because the county boundaries have moved as shown in this map for example. -- Dr Greg talk 21:27, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Any pre-1974 map will show different boundaries compared to current maps; I don't know whether there have been boundary changes in the vicinity of this station since 1974 - might be interesting to discover if there have been. Since Wikipedia generally describes the current situation, I shall reword the bits mentioning Derbyshire. The {{WikiProject Derbyshire}} banner above can stay, I think, because of the historic association. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:55, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just found this discussion, as I looked at a Manchester A-Z I have from the 1990s which shows the station in Derbyshire, however the boundary change order linked took effect from April 1994 since when the station has been in Stockport borough. 4shires (talk) 22:12, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
