Missing data[edit]

This article needs to mention that alumina-based ceramics are subject to stress corrosion cracking in the presence of water through essentially the same mechanism. I don't have a good reference at the moment. 71.16.76.66 (talk) 21:30, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Read Mechanical Properties of Ceramics - Wachtman and Cannon it would point you in the right direction. Saxophonemn (talk) 16:59, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Scale in photo[edit]

Currently the caption reads "The scale at the bottom is in millimetres.". This is ambiguous. I would normally interpret this as meaning that the numbers on the scale are in mm, not the smallest divisions. I suspect, based on the size of the letters in the photo, that the numerical scale is in cm, not mm. If this is the case, this should probably be changed to "The scale at the bottom is in cm." or "The tick marks on the scale are in mm", or something similar. -James — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.49.212.236 (talk) 05:18, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
