User:John Maynard Friedman See WP:PTM for why we put them in the see also. Do you really consider that Fenny Stratford, Water Stratford, Stratford Tony are solely known as "Stratford"?! You removed the explanation when you reinserted them [1] . I prefer the version before this one, we don't need a hatnote, (sic), "as there are a number of different Stratford High Schools", "widely known in theatrical contexts as simply 'Stratford'" (it's already covered in the article as generally known as solely "Stratford") or the PTMs, and this current version is far from WP:MOSDAB. @Widefox:, yes, accepted. I got seduced by other the other 'something Stratford' entries in the body and, rather that delete those, moved up the Buckinghamshire ones.

Reverted - Yes it was inconsistent with explanations so I added more comments to explain without adding to the clutter, and many seem borderline unless explicit in their articles. I normally merge sections that have one or two entries per MOSDAB, but I restored the NZ couple as we need the Suffolk couple. Widefox; talk 22:27, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

John Maynard Friedman See WP:PTM where "Old" I consider to be a "generic part" per example "North Carolina is properly listed at Carolina (disambiguation))". These are edge cases which we include, but certainly one can understand differentiating names based on direction or age would be disambiguation, just as we're aiming here. E.g. York (disambiguation) lists New York. In this dab, all the "-on-river", "-atte-Bow", "sub-Castle" are/were either explicitly known as "Stratford" or should be included per "generic part", and the two Suffolk ones (Stratford St Andrew, Stratford St. Mary) seem explicitly named to differentiate them. Saying that, it may be that Stratford Tony (formerly known as Stratford St Anthony) seems to fit that naming style too, so it's entireless plausible that it should be in the body rather than the See also, but in the absence of anything in the article it's just a PTM. I think the reader is better served here if we include the PTMs in the main sequence - if they are looking for a village they think is called "Stratford", and have an idea of the county, it will be easier for them to find the article. But then I live down the road from Yealand Redmayne and its two neighbours, often collectively known as "Yealand". PamD 18:00, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I replied at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation about that being an argument that may equally well apply to PTMs generally, and more so for larger dabs that are categorised, thus bringing on yet more entries.
