Article's name[edit]

I am considering moving this article. Should this article be moved to Step (physics simulator) or Step (software), or should we keep the current name Step (KDE)? Your comments are appreciated. Kotiwalo (talk) 13:13, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Step (software) would be the one I think would be best - at the moment, the disamb page doesn't mention any other software called Step. If a future piece of software called Step is released (or exists already, but with no article at the moment), then that one can be disambiguated by altering the parenthetisised bit! -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 14:15, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • True. I'm going to perform the move soon - I doubt anyone will be upset. Kotiwalo (talk) 16:16, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The page has happily landed on it's new spot. Kotiwalo (talk) 17:25, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

and very nice it's looking in its new clothes! -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 17:42, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose you mean the edits you made to improve readability, and I must admit that it looks a lot better now. Cheers! Kotiwalo (talk) 17:47, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it was a reference to the new name, rather than the minor changes I made to the article - but thanks for the complement ... it's a nice way to end my Wikipedia-ing for the night, as I've got to go out now -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 18:28, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good night. I'll keep working with the infobox and maybe even start looking for a screen shot. Kotiwalo (talk) 18:32, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A possible shot is here - I'll try to find out if we can use it tomorrow (the kids make it difficult to do much at the weekend!). -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 10:00, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have contacted Vladimir Kuznetsov (the original author of the software) to ask for his permission for us to put it onto Wikipedia. As soon as I have heard from him, I will post the results here - if he grants permission, I'll get the screenshot uploaded and put into the article (I managed to get a few mins here as the kids are watching tv!). -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 11:03, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! There are several screen shots on the homesite's section devoted to screenshots as well, but they are credited to Anne-Marie Mahfouf. But regardless of whom we contact, I don't believe they have any problem with screen shots being added - after all, they are free software people. In any case, they should be contacted before a screen shot is added. Kotiwalo (talk) 17:46, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If I get a "no" from Vladimir, I'll contact Ann-Marie and get permission from her is possible... unless you want to do that if I get a negative resposne from Vladimir? -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 18:11, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Any way is fine for me. Kotiwalo (talk) 18:49, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Vladimir suggested that I used the screenshots by Ann-Marie! He said they are under free license, so no worries there (I have replied saying that I have used CC-by-SA 3.0 for our licensing). I also put up the logo - I am checking with Vladimir that it wasn't designed by someone else, if so I'll add those details to the file. I have also updated the infobox (thanks for starting that by the way!) with the current release details. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 22:27, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It looks very nice now, and again, thanks are in order. Kotiwalo (talk) 14:14, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Kotiwalo! I have uploaded a better resolution logo (courtesy of Vladimir, who also gave me the designer's name!). That's all I'm doing on this article now. 82.43.69.66 (talk) 15:19, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
