This name can be found in West Africa where the Portuguese went. One of the founders of the de Souza Family especially in West Africa and Brazil is Francisco Felix de Souza. Who was The Viceroy of Ouidah.

In West Africa, you can find his decendants in Ghana formally GOLD COAST,Togo, Nigeria, Benin etc

The name is also found in East Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa. all families from these countries are of Portuguese, Brazilian or Goan descent.

copyedit[edit]

I did some copyedit and layout work on the article, basically trying to get it to look a little more like Smith (surname). I reorganized the lists to get rid of the "General" category, and put the "notable figures" who did not have articles in comments at the end (I didn't want to delete them altogether).
