While I cannot speak for any other group, Judaism has always referred to these as Song of Ascents, not degrees, steps, or anything else. I will add that if nobody objects.Tuvia613 (talk) 07:03, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We've been discussing this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism and going a stage further, towards the conclusion that the article ought to have the title "Songs of Ascents" (with "Songs of Degrees" becoming a redirect). Feline Hymnic (talk) 23:33, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
