Redirection proposal[edit]

Haukur Þorgeirsson (at WP:DPL) noted:

Just about every single link should go to King Solomon. Shouldn't we just make this a redirect? - Haukur Þorgeirsson 19:22, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Redirect Solomon to King Solomon and move the contents of this page to Solomon (disambiguation).

  • Support.--Commander Keane 19:54, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support explicitly. Just about everyone linking to Solomon is thinking of King Solomon. - Haukur Þorgeirsson 22:03, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree, especially if a reader looking for Solomon will be faced with an undesirable disambiguation page. The content of this present page is most naturally Solomon (disambiguation), for that is simply what it is, and that is how most disambiguation pages are titled. A reader entering "Solomon"— all by itself— should be sent directly to the king, with an Other uses note at the top of the page. "King Solomon" is as childish as "King Arthur" or "Queen Victoria". Let's not go off half-cocked here. --Wetman 08:31, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Which is exactly what we were saying :) - Haukur Þorgeirsson 09:02, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Oop! Can I change to 'Agree then? I'm only concerned with establishing the most direct line from average query to information. --Wetman 10:37, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

Oppose - Since we have a lot of Solomons and a lot of Suleimans, merging the two dab pages would create a monster that could destroy us all. They divide fairly neatly into Arab Suleimans and everyone else's Solomons, so I oppse merging the two. Mark1 21:36, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strong Oppose - already a large disabig page this would become very unwealdy with the addition of Suleimans. Not only that it may mean the sam but it is a different name from a different language background. Other disambuguatin pages split into different page based on finer distinctions of spelling. Very few, if any, will enter Solomon whilst looking for Suleiman, or Suleiman whilst looking for Solomon. This link should bedealt with via and anotated "See also" link. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 09:19, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, just make sure they link to each other, perhaps with a link up top instead of down in the "See also". -- stillnotelf has a talk page 23:33, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the merge tag, since there've been no supporting votes after a month. -- stillnotelf has a talk page 04:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
