This page links to some fishing pages, this obviously has nothing to do with fishing, please add a disimbauguation.71.186.34.141 (talk) 21:24, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had little to no idea where snagging was and was not legal so I decided to improve this article. Advanced ambiguity (talk) 17:04, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Legality[edit]

Is there an actual distinction between Prohibited with exceptions, Legal for some species during certain seasons, and Permitted for certain species or could we agree upon some wording that would be consistent ? Suppafly (talk) 19:51, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I wrote that section and don't really care what is used instead. Terminology varies between states and I tried to match the table entry to the style of that specific state, but I get your point about article consistency. I also tried to avoid specifically stating what exceptions are, in order to force the reader to check the reference and verify directly before embarking on a snag outing. Gaffing[edit]

I wonder whether this page should be extended to cover gaffing, that is,the use of a gaff hook to catch fish. Gaffing currently redirects to the page on gaff hooks, which only describes their use as an aid in landing fish caught with hook and line. Gaffing is much like snagging but uses a gaff hook rather than hook and line.Bill (talk) 02:28, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
