Official website[edit]

OK, as usual with TV series, there's more than one official website for Six Degrees. One is http://abc.go.com/primetime/schedule/2006-07/sixdegrees.html and the other is http://www.u-r-connected.com/

So which one goes to the sidebar? I edited the sidebar, modifying the link to http://www.u-r-connected.com/ but then I looked at Wiki pages for other series, and using the one from abc/whatever.com seems like the preferred approach.

I also added a link to http://www.u-r-connected.com/ in the "External Links" section.

Sarah Vowell[edit]

Wasn't that Sarah Vowell? --Gbleem 03:49, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is this the cast of the pilot or the series? I think Sarah Vowell should be listed. --Gbleem 03:34, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The series. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 08:09, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Numb3rs[edit]

erm...numb3rs aired at 11pm on ITV1 and it was only a repeat of the episode aired earlier on ITV3. 11pm isnt primetime. I'm going to remove that.

Requested move 15 January 2019[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved as proposed. Although Netoholic's point about the dab page entry showing more "Six Degrees" than "six degrees" entries may be valid, there is no firm guideline one way or the other and most of the supports were for the original proposal. I therefore see consensus for the moves overall, with a slight question mark over Six degrees vs Six Degrees for the disambiguation page, which can be resolved with a further RM if anyone is bothered about that.  — Amakuru (talk) 10:28, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

information Note: Revised proposal – While page views do indicate that the American TV series is a (very) mild "primary topic", it makes little sense to leave an American TV series that was broadcast for less than half a TV season(!) at the base title. Instead, Six degrees (disambiguation) should be moved to the base title Six degrees (with Six Degrees redirecting there) as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC #2 (i.e. "long-term significance"), and the American TV series should be moved to Six Degrees (TV series). Finally, the UK/Northern Ireland TV series is currently misnamed under WP:NCTV, and should be moved to 6Degrees as that appears to be the correct title of the series (see discussion below). --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:24, 15 January 2019 (UTC) (revised: 17:26, 15 January 2019 (UTC)) --Relisting. power~enwiki (π, ν) 04:11, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • IJBall I found out that the Six Degrees (Northern Ireland) should be actually called as 6Degrees per the official site https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0371jnp and making this....redundant? I am not sure. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 16:59, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK. I'd still do a redirect for that one at Six Degrees (UK TV series) though, and I'd still be tempted to put that one at 6Degrees (UK TV series)... Let's see what others say. But that doesn't change the first and third parts of my proposal. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:02, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • See it like this IJBall, the problem the 6Degrees discovery makes is that there would be no need for UK/NI TV series and US TV series title change (and I am not sure why would you put 6Degrees (UK TV series) up unless it is a redirect), since both have their titles unoccupied, making Six Degrees moving unneccesary. But we will see what will the others say. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 17:09, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
        • @Jovanmilic97: No – the first and third parts of the proposal would still be justified. Imagine the UK series didn't exist: it would still be justified to move the U.S. series to Six Degrees (TV series) (note: this currently redirects to the U.S. TV series article), and to move the WP:DABPAGE to Six degrees (with a redirect to this at Six Degrees, as WP:SMALLDETAILS isn't enough here...). But as the UK series does exist, there should still be a redirect at Six Degrees (UK TV series) (to either 6Degrees or 6Degrees (UK TV series)), which necessitates putting the American series at Six Degrees (U.S. TV series)...
However, I can live with the following alternative outcome: U.S. TV series @ Six Degrees (TV series), the UK series at 6Degrees, and the WP:DABPAGE at Six degrees. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:15, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
          • IJBall, I agree with that alternative proposal of yours, makes the most sense to me and you can just open additional proper redirects where needed. I am assuming Six Degrees would redirect into the dab page. There is also a good argument that can be made is that the title for US series inflates its views, making it more relevant than it actually is. Because when you search for Six Degrees into the Wikipedia search box, you may not search for the TV series itself. But the view would count as a view, boosting the possible non existant relevance. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 17:21, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
            • OK, I'll revise the proposal based on this discussion... --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:25, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • Not to further confuse this issue, but it seems like 6Degrees is a logo stylization (lacking a space), and the text on the official page and independent sources tend to call it 6 Degrees at least as often. -- Netoholic @ 18:43, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the revised proposal if that was not clear. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 17:27, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - 2nd article is an easy WP:NCTV case that should be fixed, and agree that there is no primary. --Gonnym (talk) 17:44, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak support Too many other uses (expecially considering the lower case) for there to be a clear primary topic and the BBC uses the proposed title of the 2nd request. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:53, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support (kinda), but move US show to Six Degrees (U.S. TV series), Irish show to 6 Degrees, and DAB to Six Degrees - Agree WP:NOPRIMARY, but Six Degrees (TV series) is WP:INCDAB no matter what title the Irish show ends up because many sources use the spelled out "Six" to describe it. Would prefer to move the DAB page to Six Degrees (with redirect from six degrees) as a majority of listed links use that form. The links that use lower case are longer phrases and not exact title matches. -- Netoholic @ 18:46, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Netoholic I would go with what BBC, who aired it, said as per here https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-17154057 which is a clear mention of 6Degrees. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 19:25, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Jovanmilic97: - I saw that, but also the series pages at https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00nr8lv use "6 Degrees" in the page title and mixed throughout the rest of the page sections. No consistency even on the official site. -- Netoholic @ 19:32, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • Netoholic just saw that too. Interesting though, on the same page just down there it says "6Degrees House Tour". I haven't seen so many inconsistencies like this for one show's title on a freaking official site. Guess I would still go with 6Degrees because of the logo+ direct news mention but this is all too funny to assess properly. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 19:37, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
        • @Jovanmilic97: - Kinda feeling that this is a result of "hashtagging" of the title. Does anyone know if there is an official registry for television programs in the UK? Copyright or trademark records? -- Netoholic @ 20:24, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • "6Degrees" is better in WP:NATURALDIS/WP:SMALLDETAILS terms. If we go with 6 Degrees, then I think it needs to be 6 Degrees (UK TV series), and we're back to needing Six Degrees (U.S. TV series) as Netoholic suggests. Now the latter was my original proposal, so it's not like I'm against the idea. But going to 6Degrees for the UK/Northern Irish series makes the current iteration of the RM proposal work, IMO. --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:31, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, as "small details" is being ignored as to upper-or-lower case recently (and good riddance, or Good Riddance). "Six degrees" now goes to Six degree of separation, but maybe the disambg. page is better as long as the main items stay on top (six degrees of separation, six degrees of Kevin Bacon - I actually make that game in two, etc.). The TV show's name piggy-backs on these already well-known concepts, and shouldn't be the primary. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:06, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Relisting comment there's consensus for a move but it's not yet clear what move is wanted. For a move of Six Degrees (Northern Ireland) there's no consensus for the target; is 6Degrees a stylation that should be avoided, and would 6 Degrees need to be a disambiguated name? Consensus is fairly clear that Six Degrees (U.S. TV series) is needed for disambiguation for the US show. Regarding the DAB, there's once again clear consensus for a move, but it's not clear whether it should be at "Six degrees" or "Six Degrees". Nobody has countered Netoholic's argument that the page should be at Six Degrees. I considered closing this, but am re-listing to hopefully get more specific comments on the exact titles. power~enwiki (π, ν) 04:11, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
